Hey Roadrunners!

We had a windy day on Saturday to conclude our October Green Fleet Series. All of our sailors did extremely well and I'm so proud of all of them for hiking hard and keeping their cool. A HUGE thank you goes out to all the parents who helped out. It was a challenging day as we faced windy conditions, low gas in the skiffs, boat traffic with UT's regatta going on and no marks to set the course! All of the parents really pitched in to keep things running smoothly. I especially want to recognize Tom Peel and Dan Hollenbeck who drove the chase boat. They were certainly needed! We were able to get off four races (three scored, one toss out) before we came ashore for awards. This month Pico participation was not as consistent as it was in September, so we only gave awards out to our Opti competitors. After 7 scored races, in third place with 28 points was Charles Larrouilh followed by Michael Yost in second place with 17 points. Our October champion with an incredible 8 points was Sam Peel. Congratulations to all our Green Fleet racers!

This week, we will have beginner's practice at our new time from 4:00 to 6:30. I plan on working on upwind sailing this week so any of our Green Fleet racers who would like to work on that are welcome to come out as well. Please RSVP if you are attending.

This Saturday, I will be out of town but Alan Rochard will be giving a special clinic on starts. You should expect a brief chalk talk on starts and tactics, followed by several warm up drills and start drills out on the lake. I encourage all our Green Fleet sailors to come on out. This is an amazing opportunity to improve your racing skills that you will not want to miss. The clinic will start at 1:30 in the Sail Training Cabin. Be sure to bring something to take notes with and a waterproof watch. Please let me know if you are attending so I can reserve a boat for you and make up a roster for Alan.

There will not be Laser practice on Saturday due to the clinic.

Our season is winding down, but there is still a lot to look forward to! We have four more weeks of practices and we are in the process of scheduling another Roadrunner picnic cruise for November. We will also be having a holiday parent for all our junior sailors in early December. I'll be sending out more information soon!
