Roadrunner Practice This Saturday!

Hey Roadrunners! 

We have our first Green Fleet practice of the season this Saturday, February 18th from 1:30 to 4:00. This practice is intended as a warm up for our Roadrunner Regatta competitors just to get you back on the water. We will be setting a course and reviewing the basics. The forecast calls for a high of 57 degrees, winds 11 to 20 knots, and potential rain so PLEASE dress appropriately– wet suits, dry suits, windbreakers, fleece, whatever you have in layers! I am crossing my fingers that the weather holds but if it looks like the conditions will be too severe, I will send out a cancellation email either Friday night or Saturday morning. 

On February 25th, we will be having another Green Fleet practice for our Roadrunner Regatta participants from 1:30 to 4:00. We will be practicing our starts and reviewing tactics and rules in preparation for the regatta. I am thrilled to announce that we will be joined by special guest coach, Alan Rochard. For those of you who have had the opportunity to attend one of Alan's clinics in the past, you know what a valuable practice this will be to attend. I will give priority to the Road Runner Regatta participants, but if you would like to attend this practice and are not planning to compete, please let me know. If there are extra boats, I may be able to accommodate a few more sailors.

The Roadrunner Regatta is fast approaching but there is still time to register! The regatta will be Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th. I really encourage all of our Green Fleet to take advantage of this great opportunity to gain some racing experience. We are expecting sailors from all over Texas and I want our junior program to be well represented. For more information or registration, please visit txsail.org. If you are not participating and would still like to be involved, there are plenty of volunteer opportunities available both on and off the water. We need help with meals, registration, scoring and race committee. If you are interested, please let me know and I will point you in the right direction.
