Hey Roadrunners!

We had another great weekend of practices! The wind was perfect for our beginners on Friday evening and we were able to get out on the water in some Optis and Picos to practice our tacking. Saturday was very light but we made the best of it! The Green Fleet took advantage of the calm to work on their roll tacks. The Laser/FJ group practiced rigging up the Lasers and braved the chilly water to take their swim check and practice capsize procedures. Thank you to all the parents who helped out on the docks and on the water!

Our Roadrunner Work Party was a big success. A HUGE thank you to our Equipment Chair, Philippe Bettler, for organizing our to-do lists and to Alexander Larrouilh for volunteering as our day-of leader. We were able to get a lot done! Our Optis were rigged up and old parts were swapped out, lines were replaced, and rudder hardware was adjusted. We also had a team of volunteers who cleaned up the Sail Training cabin, moved equipment to the UT shed, and pressure-washed one of the skiffs up in the work area. Thanks to all of the help, our facilities and boats are race ready for the Roadrunner Regatta! Big thanks to: Michael and Alexander Tita, Will Abrams, Cheryl Butler, Chris and Gretchen Schuttger, the Peels, the Froelichs, and anyone else I may have missed!

This week's schedule:

FRIDAY:       4:00-6:30 Basics/Beginners
SATURDAY:  EASTER LASER REGATTA
                   1:30-4:00 Green Fleet
                   4:00-6:30 Laser/FJ (FJ only!)
SUNDAY:     EASTER LASER REGATTA
                   No Free Sail Sunday

Please RSVP for practices. Also, please let me know if a parent is available to stay and help out at practice, either aboard the coach boat or on the dock.

ROADRUNNER REGATTA UPDATE:

The Roadrunner Regatta is our stop on TSA's Youth Circuit and is one of the biggest youth sailing events in Texas. We usually see close to 100 youth sailors from across the region. This is a weekend you will not want to miss! If you are not competing, come on out to watch, volunteer, and cheer on our Roadrunner sailors!

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS: We are still looking for help with meals, mostly set-up and clean-up. We need all hands on deck for this event so please sign up for a shift at http://volunteersignup.org/CWPFB or contact Roadrunner Social Chair Cheryl Butler at r_cb...@yahoo.com.

The Notice of Race has been posted and registration is open at txsail.org. Sign up before April 1st to avoid a $10.00 late registration fee. Please contact me if you would like to borrow an AYC Opti or Laser for this event. For FJ charters, contact Steve Gay at Steve Gay at (512) 257-2386 or seg...@myfairpoint.net. If you are looking to be paired up with a skipper or crew, please let me know.

Lastly, we only have one practice left before Roadrunner, so if you plan on competing, please make it out to practice!
