Hey Roadrunners!
Another great week of junior sail training. I'm sure you have all noticed
that there is more water in our lake! Thanks to all the rain early last
week, Lake Travis rose about 6 feet! We all owe the harbor and grounds crew
a big thank you for making our Rylander Pavilion accessible. The winds were
very light on Saturday and our Green Fleet made the best of the situation.
In the classroom they learned about light wind sailing both up and
downwind. After a very slow windward-leeward race, we had fun with a
kinetics race before calling it a day. Lots of paddling and sculling!
Thankfully the wind picked up a bit for Saturday's second practice.
Free Sail Sunday was another huge success! There has been a great turnout
from the Roadrunners as well as some new faces. Join us next week for
games, extra practice, or a family sail. A reminder that all our Sail
Training boats are available during this time: Optis, Picos, Sunfish,
Lasers, and FJs. Come straight to the training dock anytime between 1:00
and 4:00 on Sunday afternoon.
Practices will be at their usual times this week:
Beginners/Basics: Thursday 4:00-6:30
Green Fleet: Saturday 1:30-4:00
Lasers: Saturday 4:00-6:30
Free Sail: Sunday 1:00-4:00
