Hello Write Club!

I'm helping to organise Brighton's second Travel Massive event, which would be relevant to anyone who writes for the travel industry. It's on Thursday April 15th from 6pm-ish at The Old Market, Hove and is informal and free (but bring money for the bar!). If you fancy it, you can sign up here at Eventbrite.

Hope to see some of you there, and feel to pass this invite on to anyone else who might be interested.

Lucy

Brighton Travel Massive: The journey of Content

Top quality content is vital in the travel industry, but what does this actually mean and how can we do it well?

Our panel of experts will be sharing the secrets of their success and, after a break at the bar, we’ll divide into smaller groups to focus on different aspects of content creation. We’ll finish by re-joining to share ideas and ask/answer questions.

Our Expert Panel

Mike Unwin, Freelance Journalist & Author
A wildlife and family travel expert, Mike spent eight years living in southern Africa. He writes for the Telegraph, Independent, Wanderlust and BBC Wildlife, and is the author of 28 books. In 2013 he was voted 'UK Travel Writer of the Year' by the British Guild of Travel Writers.

Kate Waite, Digital Marketing Manager, Natural World Safaris
A digital marketing expert with more than 12 years’ experienceKate has devised, implemented and managed digital strategies for a number of travel brands. She specialises in SEO, website performance, pay-per-click and social media.

Gilly Smith, Journalist, Writing Coach and Lecturer
An expert storyteller, Gilly  is the founder of DreamWriting workshops, which help academics, business people and freelancers find their voice for creating content. She is also interested in the use of 'audio journeys' and app writing, in place of traditional online travel content.

Timings

5.30pm   Doors open - submit a question for the panel - drinks + networking

6.15pm   Welcome & introduction

6.25pm   Panel Q&A

7.15pm   Bar break

Travel Massive connects thousands of people in 40 cities around the world to meet, learn, and collaborate in the online travel industry. It is a world-wide community of locally organised meet ups for travel & tourism companies, travel bloggers, startups, and travel media to connect and share globally.

Lucy - this event looks excellent! I'll be popping along.

I'm really pleased to see the round table sessions with exercises - so much better to mix it up rather than passively listening to talks the whole evening.

Good luck with it.
