hello,
Am new to away3D. Till now am using papaervison3D , and now i came to
know that away3D is beetr in performance. But after looking into
away3D am little bit confused.

There were different versions to download . Which one is feasible and
stable?

Most of my flash 3D is based on the models form 3DSMAX. I can't find
anything usefull to use external models in away3D.

And finally which one is better papaervision3D or away3D.

Please help me to find some answer or some usefull links..

regards

harilal

Away has 2 engines for F10. Lite and regular. AwayLite is faster and
can handle more polys. This comes at a price: less features.

Away loads 3ds and collada from max. There are known issues with
latest max collada exports tho.

As about which engine is better:
Working on this engine for the past 3 years, my opinion would be
coloured. And I will for this reason not start argue on the diffs.
Just ask our users, especially the many previous PV users what they
think..

But you could ask yourself if it is wize to invest time in a
technology that is no longer being developped.

@John Only the Lite version is fully optimized. The main engine will
probably get that for v4.0.

@harilal I'm definitely colored as well but I forced myself to use
Papervision on a couple commercial projects and I have to say it's
quite unfinished as an API. Many methods I wanted to use had no effect
since they were not implemented, there were memory leaks and you
couldn't update primitives after they had been created. Away3d fixes
all of this.

Your main reason for going with Away3d should however be the one
Fabrice mentioned. There has not been any updates to Papervision 2 in
two years. If you take a look at the Away3d blog on http://away3d.com,
you'll see that new features and bug fixes are added constantly.

helo friends

Thanx for the reply. First of all , am amazed with the support from this forum.

I think it's good to test with away 3d from now on. If you don't mind , can you share me some articles or tutorials realating to the basic of away 3D.

And am  still confused with version. Which on is better and stable? 2.4.0 or 2.5.0 . ?
And there is lite version also.

Hey harilal

3.5 is the latest FP10 release and it is certainly the most stable. as with any new release there are alway s a few loose end to tie up but you are best going with 3.5 regardess as this is the version that will continued to be updated in the trunk

as for examples, just take a look at the example source files supplied in the svn, or from the download page at http://away3d.com/downloads. there is plenty there to get you started!

use trunk/f10/away3d or awaylite as they are the most often updated versions.

use tags for production
