Subject: Solitaries and Covens
The Path does not, in general, encourage solitary practice, but we do
recognise that there are cases where isolation or other reasons make
this the only practical alternative.
We see solitary practitioners as also having need of the support of a
coven and we do provide this where it is desired.  A solitary can be
named as a friend of a coven and be supported in this way.  They will
be able to attend ritual with the coven as a guest and will be in
contact with the elders and other members for support and advice when
it is needed and c an also go through the rites of passage with the
coven, although these are different in some details from the same
rites for members.
Such a solitary is not a member of the coven and has no vote in
council but may be heard and is welcomed as a friend by all.
Why is it that we do not encourage solitary practice?  The answers are
not complicated.  What we do, especially the role the Path has in
supporting others who need help, is not easy and doing so alone is
extremely difficult.  The process of learning is also far harder alone
and is often compared with attempting to lift oneself by one’s
bootlaces.  Reinventing the wheel from first principals is not
recommended practice, it is difficult and time consuming.
Even solitaries occasionally need to work with the group for practical
reasons as well.  The power of a group of people working in concert is
far beyond that of the sum of their individual efforts.
We also from time to time encounter tasks that can eb distressing and
these when faced alone are far more difficult than when shared with
people we can trust implicitly.
It also goes without saying that the solitary who is supported by a
coven is not in the same situation as a member who is distant.  The
difference being mostly in the oaths that are taken and in the
responsibilities between the member and the coven and vice versa.
The only real limitation on a solitary is that a solitary cannot
attain the third degree.  This requires the bond of a coven and the
support derived from it.

After I found a bunch of writings dear Badger, would it be concidered I am
of the coven, as because of my background?  this is what I think I am.  I
still practice what my grandma and mother did for a while.  As they both
taught alot to be before thier passing.  as for my mother she is buried at
the national cemetary in linclon memorial in Illinois.  As will my father.
 I been working on a idea that I will be having a temple but private when we
move.  Not sure when.
