In my experience the slides remain in the format they were created in unless you set it otherwise. On the Mac & WinXP, you can control the slide show format in the Page Setup dialog, choosing 4:3, 16:9, 16x10.

We have several instructors who are not wanting to spend the time to rebuild their old PowerPoint presentations into 16:9 format for our current technology projectors (we have no 4:3 projectors in the teaching areas).
Does anyone know of a tool that will convert the images to 16:9 without distorting or pushing text off of the screen. I would even accept a “framer” that puts side panels on the 4:3 image so it does not get stretched when presented on a computer set to the native resolution of the projector.
