Subject: classroom display usage

I am wondering if there is a difference in the use of projectors/displays based on academic discipline. We are an academic health science campus and have to have every room equipped with a projector or large LED monitor. It is extremely rare for an instructor to not display images to enhance the presentation (not just PowerPoint text slides).

What is the use like in other fields?

Has there ever been a study/survey on this? I know we have discussed this informally in the past.

Thanks,

Ernie

Regarding the use of projectors in academics, the two I can think of that have been special requirements, is DICOM mode for reading grayscale medical scans, and art history, where it was important to have gamma adjustment so that shadow detail (in painting displays) was evident.
Also I have to say that a well-installed digital signal-based projector and switcher does give a better screen presentation (focus, linearity, registration) than a well-installed VGA system, for more critical users.
