Subject: Crestron question...variable to indirect text
Okay, I have a problem and I am tired of beating my head against a wall...perhaps someone here has an idea...

I've got a touch panel project with a subpage on it with a button with an indirect text label.  (Why a button? Because Crestron does it that way...).  In an effort to simplify my life, I am hoping to use the subpage and its button as a message box.

I'm using SystemBuilder (glutton for punishment, I guess...).

In SystemBuilder, I have a serial variable that contains the messages I want to display on the message box.

I can make the message box appear on the touch panel.  That part works.

I can change the variable to contain whatever message I need.  That part works.

What I can't seem to figure out is how to get that serial variable to populate the indirect text on the button.  I even built a SIMPL module that basically consists of a serial buffer (forced enabled) and then built a global preset that "connects" the serial variable to the indirect text join.

I can't be the first person to try to do this.  Anybody have any advice (apart from "do the whole thing in Simpl"...I am leaving the University next month and will have to turn this over to the care of people who could probably manage basic maintenance in SystemBuilder, but who don't really know what signals are...)

Update:

I still don't know what I did, but now it's working.  Go figure.

Now to write the modules for the selector and the amplifier...the engineer at Atlona who came up with their serial protocol should be shot at sunrise...with four completely different types of ammunition.
