Hello,

I am currently testing AutoKey under Ubuntu 12.04.

The daemon runs ok and performs as usual, but when I attemp to open
the GTK gui to edit/add new phrases Ubuntu displays an error dialog
with the following: AutoKey is already running as pid 1234.

Can anyone provide any tips/pointers on how to get it to open?

Regards,
Fred

From the sounds of it, you are running the very old version found in the Ubuntu repos. From the AutoKey homepage, follow the link to the PPA and upgrade to the latest version.

Are you running Unity?

Try opening the GUI with the default shortcut Super + k

I get the same thing under Unity, it is because the icon does not yet appear on the Unity panel, but the process is already running.

On Gnome 3, the icon appears normally.

I compiled from source and all is  working ok.
