I recently posted a message about my father (although undiagnosed),
starting a pulse steroid treatment.
Well, we started the treatment of 1000 mg of prednisone for a day, and
it's the 4th day now.
I wonder how immediate were your improvements during treatment?
Since i have read many cases stating a "very immediate improvement", i
got my hopes too high and waiting for a miracle to happen.
After 5 pulse steroid injections, we are going to gie a break for 2
days and then start the second phase of another 5 pulse treatments.
Never had that level of pulse treatments. I did get 50 mg/day
treatments (x 2 weeks) for asthma (exacerbated by bronchitis) this
past January. My AE symptoms got better within a week - improved gait,
decrease in tremors, clearer brain function; but when I dropped back
down to my usual 10mg/day dosage (for multiple autoimmune disorders),
my AE symptoms got worse.
Every one is different in their response to medication - some sooner
than others, some greater response than others. Hope that your dad has
a good, quick response...

Zachary is right. My diagnosis of AE came about after eliminating the
other possible diagnoses. There are a lot of what I call "look-alike"
medical conditions and which need to be ruled out. It took several
years to get my problem sorted out - and you may be in the same
position, like it or not. Try to hang in there for the time being....
