Subject: AutoCAD 2000 won't install on windows XP
I'm trying to install AutoCAD 2000 on a new computer with Windows XP
Professional.  I get an error message that says: "Wrong OS. AutoCAD supports
Window NT 4.0, Windows NT 5.0, Window 95 and Windows 98" and the install is
aborted.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Thanks for any help.

Huck

It has been done, although Autodesk does not support it.

You may have to use 2000 compatibility mode to install or run it.

1) Make sure you are logged on as a local administrator.
2) Try installing from the CD. If you can't then try copying the CD to a
temporary directory on the HD and try installing from there.
3) If you can't install from the HD, then set the compatibility mode on the
setup.exe file to windows 2000 and run the installation.  (Right-click on
setup.exe, pick "Properties", "Compatibility" tab.)
4) Start AutoCAD.  If you can't then you need to set the compatiblity mode for
the acad.exe file to windows 2000.
