AI Spell Checker does not recognize lower case after a period as spelling mistake

I am using the English (United States) dictionary in AI 5.5. The spell
checker does not recognize the use of lower case after a period (dot)
as a spelling mistake - how can I add this to the spelling checker as
a rule?
