This is a very important rally. ESG, (Eastern Star Gas) which operates not only on private land but also in the Pilliga State Forest, is planning a pipeline from the State Forest across the floodplain through Mullaley to hook up with pilot production sites at Kahlua (SW of Mullaley) and Glasserton near Spring Ridge. (PALA 5) - all in our very valuable foodbowl, the Liverpool Plains. This is the beginning of the expansion of coal seam gas companies onto sustainable food producing lands. For those that care for native flora and fauna, ESG is also seeking an operations-occupational license in the Pilliga State Forest to further extend their operations and this has already resulted in a lot of clearing of native habitat. There are significant koala colonies in this area as well as endangered species such as the barking owl. This is a great opportunity to express your discontent with the operations of ESG as well as Santos. Santos has a 35% shareholding in ESG and varying holdings in different well sites so it is a two edged sword. John Anderson, former deputy prime minister of Australia, is the chairman and has clearly used his politcal background to his own advantage as he holds a huge number of shares in ESG.
Cate Faerhmann and Jack Mundey will address the meeting at 10.30am. Four Corners will also be in attendence. They are doing an expose on the environmental issues on coal seam gas.
So please come early and join in on the action. We will have placards available and quite a few "Buy one - Get one Free tickets to "Gaslands" - which is an amazing expose of the coal seam gas (known as "natural" gas ) industry in America to give away. It premiers in Sydney on 17th November.
And the latest Youtube from America on CSG.
