1909, 27 Jan Trove article15031533-4-001 weather fluctuations
Mentions Lake Bathurst and weather patterns back to 1803. It sounds so much like current weather happenings that I could not resist sending it so that everyone could read it. Judy

Storm between Buladelah and Nelsons Bay about 10.30pm today
We have just seen the most spectacular lightning from our street, lighting up a huge cloud structure and the sky. I checked on Weatherzone and the only possible storm is about 150 k's north of us. Some of the flashes lit the edge of the cloud like it was on fire. The whole effect is being made better by the copious amounts of left over burn... more »

Mid-May cold [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Many models (ensembles from JMA, NAEFS, EC, GFS) are suggesting medium to high probabilities of colder than normal conditions stretching from northwest Australia, across central areas to parts of eastern Australia near the middle of this month. Attached is a map showing the probabilities of colder (blue) and warmer (red) than normal conditions between the 12th & 19th May generated by NAEFS (North American Ensemble Forecast System). The stronger the colour, the higher the probability. Still early days though so it pays to keep an open mind about whether or not this will come true.... more »

Geelong's April weather
April, 2012 RAINFALL Most of the Geelong urban area and the Bellarine Peninsula received average to above average rain in April. Breakwater Racecourse received the long-term average amount of 45.4 mm, an average derived from many years at the old Airport site. In contrast, most of the Otway Ranges, Golden Plains and Moorabool Catchment were below average. Despite this, the catchments remain at 79% of capacity. This is on a par with last year and is a comforting situation for the citizens of the region.... more »
