We had the most incredible storm last night.  81mm of rain in just about an hour.
SES, NSW Fire Brigade and RFS called in from surrounding areas to help, particularly in Dee Why, Curl Curl and Manly.
Some roads were flooded deep enough for at least one car to float in.
The CBD of Sydney in the area surrounding Market Street was blacked out by a flooded underground sub station and power is not expected to be restored until mid morning today.
This morning is quiet, only the bravest of the local bird population are out and about.
The Hornsby area was affected badly as well.

On the subject of Sydney, our flight in on Saturday afternoon was pretty interesting. Moderate turbulence at our cruising altitude of 34,000 which gradually increased as we got closer then very dark with a distinct green tinge and spectacular forked lightning off to our right during the final stages of descent. We were able to make up time enroute so got in a bit early (and avoided any holding delays). It then poured down most of the evening while we were having dinner last night.

Just to Put this link back up there – What I would like to know about this particular event – Is how much moisture will it drop onto the 40S latitude – and how that will affect the Melbourne / Adelaide rain totals in coming years.  ( although we don’t have anything to compare it to yet)  It’s a pitty we don’t have a satellite compository for the entire latitude..  L

For anyone watching the link I reposted – The Kilmore storms are about to intersect with the moisture cloud north of Melbourne..

Should be interesting to watch -

Its almost as if the VMax on this little low is about to collide into itself.  Would that be a fair assumption?
