Mid-May cold [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Many models (ensembles from JMA, NAEFS, EC, GFS) are suggesting medium to high probabilities of colder than normal conditions stretching from northwest Australia, across central areas to parts of eastern Australia near the middle of this month.

 

Attached is a map showing the probabilities of colder (blue) and warmer (red) than normal conditions between the 12th & 19th May generated by NAEFS (North American Ensemble Forecast System). The stronger the colour, the higher the probability. Still early days though so it pays to keep an open mind about whether or not this will come true.
