is it a serious deal if you have a soft spot on a hobie 16 on the inside of the hull in between the two tramp pylons. its on the inside of the hull, i think i did it when i was flipping it back over last weekend when i stood on the middle hull.  Do any of yall know people in the houston area that would fix this for a fair price because ive read too many failed stories about fixing it the wrong way.

Hello Cody,

If you have soft spots on the tops of hulls, it is repairable and not very hard to do, IF it is done right.    It usually does not take much epoxy and adds little weight.  I would be happy to explain the proper technique.

If you have softness on the sides of the hulls and there is NO warping or waviness, it  is also possible to fix them, however, it usually uses a LOT of epoxy and added a fair amount of weight.  If you have any warping or waviness to the sides of the hull (inside or outside), I would not bother fixing them.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help...

Yeah I dont see any worping but if it adds as much weight as you say I might just leave it as it is. Do think there is enough strength in there that it wont bust unless someone jumps on it since most of the stress is concentrated on the deck and the bottom tip of the hulls.

Hello Cody,

I am leery of any softness in the hulls.  They can break unexpectedly with only a relatively small soft spot.  If the sides are OK, I would suggest fixing the tops.  That doesn't add a lot of weight.

Hello Cody,

OK,  if it is only soft in one spot, I would still fix it.  because if it is a small area, you will probably not have to add a lot of resin (weight).
