My wife & I are going to be moving down to Austin to escape the pressures of
living near NYC, and we would like to start a non-profit pet/animal shelter.

So what we are wondering and need more information on is the following.

1: How many pet shelters are in the area ? 30-40 miles from Austin?
2: What town/suburb/section/region would most likely have farm property,
ie: 2 story house with barn and 3-5+ acreage (minimum)
3: What are the current prices for said property.
4: What is the crime situation in Austin? ie: does your news shows have
stabbing in the schools? Junior High?
5: Anyone need a Unix/AIX administrator/programmer?
6: Are there any Amiga dealers in the area? (Yes, I have an Amiga/Unix box)
7: What is all this talk about a city-wide net? SLIP? T-1 to home?
8: Anyone want to buy a 90 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd (loaded)
9: Anyone selling a used pickup? (for shelter)
10: Anyone selling a used convertible? (for self)

I thought maybe you should know we have a variety of geological land
types around the city. Scrubby, hilly land to the west, a large dammed
lake system to the W/NW. The edge of sort of a coastal plain is East
of town. Maybe you can find a topographical/ geological type map. I
would think that this might be a consideration. Also, I think the
groundwater sources/quality might vary.
