Tivoli Systems Management Division of IBM (http://www.tivoli.com) is
seeking a full time senior RELEASE MANAGER to join its development
team in Austin, Texas. The successful candidate will fill a highly
visible position within Tivoli involving the coordination of the
product release efforts. Further, the candidate will be responsible
for developing, enhancing, and facilitating the Tivoli development
processes.
Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate and monitor the transition between lifecycle phases based
on the exit criteria. Coordinate the collection of requirements and
issues from all functional areas within Tivoli. Provide a means for
organizing external requirements, feedback, and commitments to be
factored into the product lifecycle. Define and communicate the process
and exit criteria for transition between each product lifecycle phase.
2. Ensure activities and exit criteria are met at each product lifecycle
phase by participating on the product teams, directing verification
teams in the validation of the exit criteria, and ensuring that
ownership exists and is communicated for all necessary activities
relating to the exit criteria.
3. Communicate status of products during each product lifecycle phase by
tracking global schedules to be made readily available to internal
teams, provide notification of upcoming events to the different
Tivoli functional areas, and support communication with development
from external sources.
4. Participate with the other members of the development management
team to coordinate and continually improve the design, development,
and product delivery process.
Mandatory Requirements
1. Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical
field or equivalent experience required.
2. 3+ years of experience as a project lead or a project manager in
commercial software development.
3. Ability to develop and apply a business case towards lifecycle exit
criteria and product readiness.
4. Very strong communication, project management, leadership, and people
management skills.
5. Extensive experience and knowledge of the product development and release
process in either a UNIX or PC environment, with expertise in such
areas as design tools, process development, system testing, etc.
6. Desire to fill/succeed in a very visible and demanding position, strong
independent thinker, detail-oriented, aggressive attitude. Ability
to be flexible and creative in problem solving. Strong commitment to
continuing to make a rapidly changing, dynamic company an exciting,
challenging, and fun place to work.
7. US Citizenship or permanent resident status required.
Desired Background
1. Familiarity with distributed client/server applications.
2. Direct experience in Release Management or Program Management.
3. Knowledge of process improvement models (ISO 9000, SEI CMM) and
experience implementing process improvements.
