Anyone favor a news service provider over another? When AT&T killed
their service I picked up the $3 plan from Giga, but I didn't really
shop around much.

I use mostly text groups, but have a "binary day" once a month or so
when I get bored. The idea of re-upping by advancing to the next
billing cycle at GN sounded best for that, but now I see that Astraweb
has something similar that doesn't expire like GN does.

Experiences with either? Other hosts? Anyone local, perchance?

I've been using Thundernews for about 3 years, no complaints. $21.99/month
for unlimited usage.

Well, I only use text, not binaries, so that might be a bit much for me.
Like I said, I'm on GN's $3 plan at the moment. Just seeing if there's
something better.

Oh, I have a fancy-dancy GUI I love. I need a straight up server.

I used trn years ago, but I can't say I ever really loved it. I do know
that I rather hated tin.
