Would it be possible to get an update, or any news, on the progress in planning/discussions of the bike trail with the MoPac improvement project? The one from Town Lake to Parmer. Would this be COA, TxDOT or other agency?

It could be that Bike Austin is the best to present on the status, since the City of Austin is in the midst of political negotiations with CTRMA on it.  I can give a status update at the May or June meeting.  (May's agenda may already be too full.)

Regarding the North MoPac Bike/Ped Highway:

This is a complex situation.  I do think now, after talking with CTRMA and City of Austin staff, that it would be best for the BAC to visit this at the May 21st BAC meeting.  There is still no publicly available formal feasibility study for the North MoPac Bike/Ped Highway.  My current understanding (though information changes frequently) is that without such a study, the roadway expansion project will be designed in such a way that it precludes implementation of a bike/ped facility at any time in the future.  CTRMA and TxDOT are already legally bound, per the Environmental Assessment, to not preclude such a bike/ped facility by construction of this project, but they have not shown what measures they are taking to honor this agreement.

I think this would be a good time for the BAC to affirm that it still wants to see CTRMA and/or the City of Austin to take this important step -- a formal feasibility study from Enfield to Parmer -- toward realization of the North MoPac Bike/Ped Highway.  It does take resources for CTRMA, TxDOT, and the City of Austin to examine this, so it would help if the BAC could reaffirm its interest in this project.

In the meantime, I will look into this more, and see if an agreement can be reached.
