Hi

We've learned that the Speedway Bicycle Boulevard was taken off the
plan at UT request. It seems that it was done without knowledge of the
BAC.
If this is true, how could it have happened? Was it BAC really not
informed?
It worries me.

I hadn't heard anything about this but if it is so I'd like to know
what we can do to fix this omission.

For reference, from a previous e-mail:

At the request of UT, the Speedway Bicycle Boulevard information was
removed from 2009 Austin Bike Plan before City Council passed the plan
in June 2009.

For reference, see p. 4 of the change addendum:
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/bicycle/downloads/memorandum_20090609.pdf

To see what was removed see p. 75 (PDF p. 6) of this document of the
2009 Austin Bike Plan:

http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/bicycle/downloads/02_bikeway_system_70_125_final_draft.pdf

Neither the UT Bicycle Committee nor the UT Parking & Traffic Policies
Committee were notified of this request by UT to change the Austin bike
plan.

I was under the impression that the Bicycle Plan was a living
document, open to revision and changes as the city progressed in its'
thinking regarding transportation needs. UT NEEDS a bike Boulevard
running north-south and Speedway makes a lot of sense.
