Hi guys,

I got a new camera gooseneck from the US today. It was the only place that sold 14 inch ones instead of the too short 8 inch variety.

It's a mobile phone gooseneck, with the cradle removed, but the cradle mounting kept in place to act as a stabiliser, so there's minimal vibrations of the camera when driving.

Attached to the gooseneck to allow tripod thread mounting is a ClamperPod. Which I have shown on the list before. Again another product from the US.

Having the gooseneck mounted the way it is allows the camera to sit closer to me, stops mounting reflections on the glass and also allows more space between the glass and camera, which allows for much easier swivelling when trying to take obscured signs etc.

Next purchase will be some new black fabric to cover the dashboard with to eliminate dash reflections on the glass. The old bit of radio station t-shirt I have been using is totally stuffed.

Black fabric is definitely underrated. On the weekend I was driving right into the sun and the black fabric across the dash got rid of the blinding reflections on the windscreen. It has its benefits, even when not taking pics :p

As you can see in the pic I have a dash mat, but it's grey and also because of it's texture and being made from polypropylene, it's a bit reflective.
