I do find it interesting instead of rendering assistance they continued
to flog them with the water canons.
What do you expect from whaling pirates? About time the Sea Shepherd got
real canons of it's own :-)
MrT.
A couple of U-boats wouldn't go astray...
Why? Are the Japs doing anything illegal?
.Have you ever got near a hippy, they probably needed a bath.
That's for the courts to decide, it's cetainly immoral.
Do you eat meat?

>That's for the courts to decide, it's cetainly immoral.
It's certainly cetacean-iuosly immoral.....
>Do you eat meat?
With fava beans and a nice soy-latte.....
Greenpeace did look at some submarines that were on the market some years
ago. They weren't allowed to purchase any.
====
Yes, according to our own government...and several other nations.
If that was true, then why aren't the charged? Answer - because it is
NOT illegal in the country they are whaling in. Australlian laws only
cover Australian territory
So the french helped them along and turned the rainbow warrior into one
You mean apart from deliberately running down boats?
And it did look very deliberate, with a change of course to intercept.
Sylvia.
According to Australian laws over their territorial waters, yes.
>That's for the courts to decide
Australian, or Japanese? Whose going to bring the case?
Fact is CRudd, just like the Rodent before him, doesn't give a stuff.
Diplomatic relations are considered more important than whales, or even
people.
MrT.
So the Japs should farm whales then, in Japanese waters, if they want :-)
(Or buy them from any other legal farmers)
MrT.
Will the Japs be made to pay for the boat I wonder?
And did the French ever pay for the Rainbow Warrior?
(the French terrorists were sent home as heroes, I bet the Japanese skipper
will probably be hailed as one in Japan too)
MrT.
Having looked that the footage again, I have to revise my opinion. It's
possible the protestors' boat moved in front of the Japanese ship.
Sylvia.
It wouldn't have even been close if the jap ship had kept its original
course.
It wouldn't be close if the Steve Irwin ships weren't there in the
first place. They are ONLY there to disrupt and harrass a whaling
expedition that THEY feel is illegal, but NO court can enforce.
Surely their money could be better spent trying to change the laws to
make whaling illegal. Oh, that's right, they've tried that and
failed. So their act of terrorism is the only option open to them.
Whilst I'm no Captain Stubing, isn't it standard practice, if not maritime
law, for ships to avoid collisions by turning port respectively? If so, I
can see that was impractical for the Alby Mangles (or whatever silly name it
had) but why did the whaling vessel turn starboard directly into the path of
the other vessel?
====
Wouldn't it be appropriate to keep both parties apart given their behaviour
is potentially hazardous to other vessels, if not reckless?
Who's going to take responsibility for letting this escalate to the point
that someone is seriously injured?
Do you eat humans?
Soylent Green, you mean, Clockbreath?

Who really gives a shit.. One party is slaughtering whales, and the
other is a terrorist organisation. Either way, the are far away from
us, and if they kill eachother, no harm is done.
No, but the protestors aren't just distributing leaflets - I understand
ropes are being laid in an attempt to foul the Japanese ship's
propellors. So there's a degree of conflict there, and both craft are
maneuvering for the purpose. I think the Japanese ship had straightened
out, and was not intending to hit the protestors' boat.
But no one comes out of this smelling of roses.
Sylvia.
I would have thought if they were laying ropes or whatever the japs
claim they would have been at a good speed as they would have had a bit
of ground to make up if the japs stayed on their original course.
Just as sad comment on international law. But hey it does no better when
wars, or anything else is involved, so what do you expect for a few whales!

Both sides are flouting laws, so obviously no-one! They simply feel more
strongly about the issue than you do obviously, and your suggestion they do
nothing and let the Japs get on with it, is not something they agree with
you on.
MrT.

That was to prevent the outbreak of fire after the forthcoming collision.
Sylvia.
How thoughtful of them then! :-)
MrT.
Name the legislation that says it's illegal? Here's another thing to
think about - how can we criticise the Japs for hunting whales, when
we do NOTHING about our own aboriginees hunting Dugong - which
actually ARE on the verge of extinction?
You would have to be pretty gullible to believe that BS.
You are the only one who replied to it, so that makes YOU prettty
gullible.
Not as gullible as you it seems.
