I think this is starting to become a possibility, and it concerns me.
Could the country survive anther three years of Juliarism? Please re-

Not with Abbott as the only alternative.
Fact is a lot will be voting non-major parties
So far although I don't like them only the "Greens" offer a sustanable
tax budget

I'm more concerned about the prospects of an Abbott government.

WA libs have just given us a taste of what is to come federally and it's
all bad news.

I haven't met anyone who admits voting liberal in the WA election.
What I hear is people agreeing with me that Barnett can't be trusted.
And I might point out that Barnett is no more a liberal party true
believer than you are, Clockster. He's just a prick who already had a
support base, decided he wanted to be in parliament, and auctioned
himself to whichever party offered him the safest seat. If things had
gone slightly differently he might be labor premier Barnett now.

For those too young to remember, there were days of unedifying
squabbling where Barnett refused to pay the liberal party's membership
fee until after he was guaranteed pre-selection, and it had to be
explained really slowly to the nincompoop that the party doesn't pre-
select candidates who aren't actually members of the party. The
impasse only ended when an anonymous third party paid for him. He was
a useless bastard then and he still is.

Thinking Barnett represents liberal values is a mistake. Barnett is
just a carpet-bagger like Gillard.

## So you think that Abbotts promise for Gelong is real?
What jobs will be created by making Gelong a center of Culture? A center of
learning?
People wake up to the faqct that he is full of hot air.
The only way he can keep manufacturing alive is to pay third world wages.

No one cares about manufacturing. Manufacturing brings in less than 2%
of Australia's export income. If the entire manufacturing sector
disappeared tomorrow it wouldn't even cause a recession, let alone the
economic devastation laborites would have you believe. (And no one
outside Geelong cares about Geelong.)

A lot more if you count all the other jobs which manufacturing creates
It may not bring in much export income, but what would our balance of
payment be if we
import everything?

Easy peasy.

Here you go.
>
"Labor will lose Senators in every state and the Coalition or a
right-of-centre cross bench will control the Senate after the September
14 elections, a Nielsen poll of the lower house seats indicates.

Labor could be left with 27 Senators, picking up just 14 seats at the
Senate election, according to an analysis of the poll by the Australian
Financial Review.

The average of the House of Representatives primary vote in Nielsen
survey shows swings away from Labor compared to the 2010 election in
every state.

In South Australia the swing is 11.9% with a 5% margin of error. The
next biggest swing was in NSW with 7%, according to the analysis.

"Labor will be demolished in both houses" said Nick Economou, a senior
lecturer in the School of Political and Social Inquiry at Monash
University.

The Coalition looks set to pick up 21 Senate seats, taking its total to
37, two shy of a Senate majority.

"The most likely scenario is a right- leaning cross bench; the second
most likely scenario is a Coalition gaining control" Dr. Economou said.

(snip)

This could leave Labor's Senate representation from July at 22 or 23,
with the Coalition with as many as 39, 12 Greens and three
cross-benches - a new Katter Australia Party plus South Australia
independent Nick Xenephon and Democratic Labor Party Senator John
Madigan."

ROFLMAO!

Facts not in evidence unfortunately. Wages and standard of living are not
directly linked anyway, except in the case of CEO's etc. where wage
increases *FAR* outstrip their employees, and their tax cuts more than
compensate for inflation, the GST, and other tax/levy/duty/surcharge
increases.

That's true, but spend all their time fighting things like work choices to
prevent a deterioration of standards rather than an actual increase.

Your skepticism is not surprising but it _is_ true. It seems unlikely
that Microsoft could not program a satisfactory news reader so the
conspiracy theory that they want everybody to only use Microsoft web
based groups is credible.

I can understand HD's reluctance to do that. My news reader contains
all my posting history plus the posts I considered worth saving so it
is often useful for locating information for a new post.

Yet people voted for him and his equally if not more so dysfunctional
sidekick Buswell in droves.

They represent the party and their values (or lack of) are consistent
with the actions of the party. Dishonest and dishonourable and that is a
Liberal tradition at state level and federally.

Labor always inherits Liberal party mismanagement and gets the job of
cleaning up, that's why Australia has debt now, because Howard and
Costello set us up for failure and then walked away.
