I hate to say "I told you so" but ...
http://www.mediaspy.org/report/2012/03/09/james-spigelman-appointed-abc-chairman/
"The appointment was made under the Government's merit-based
appointment process for the ABC and SBS boards, which was designed "to
remove political interference and to promote independence". Spigelman
was selected from the panel's shortlist of candidates in consultation
with the Prime Minister."
One small problem ... Mr. Spigelman is a former adviser to Gough
Whitlam, and was appointed NSW Chief Justice by the Carr government.
Promoting independence? Just more lies from a government that has
mastered the art of being dishonest with voters.
Notwithstanding Tony Abbott's public endorsement, the fact is
Spigelman has a long and close history with Labor governments and on
that basis alone should not have been selected.
