Just noticed that this newsgroup is a little quiet ??!
Anyhow, I have been working for about 4 years on live tv shows broadcast
throughout Melbourne on Ch.31. Just wondering who else is out'n'about
doing similar ??!!

Hi Sascha,
Pure coincidence but I just happened to be passing through and saw your posting.
Community TV in Hobart is very quiet at the moment. I'll have to check and
see if HACT is up and running yet. Rosny college have got the transmitter
(hell, I helped lug the damn thing down the stairs at RMIT!) but whether
they have the programs is another story.
Considering the constant struggle we had to get fresh material from a city
of three million, I'm not sure how little Hobart (pop 190 000) is going to
fare.
Just have to wait and see.
Cheers

Just a quick note to let you know I am on this list. As Sascha already
knows, we produce a show called Bollocks which is on Ch. 31 in Melbourne and
will be return to air next season (end of April).
Anyone wanting more information - I have just updated our website:
http://nemesis.com.au/bollocks and because I can't resist telling everyone,
we interviewed Silverchair last week!

I made up for it by doing their first station ID, didn't see it much though,
it was a bunch of jigsaw pieces flying in to make the logo. Did anyone see
this?
They paid me in air time, so I made a little 30sec animation that they
played a bunch of times.....ah the good ol days :)

I have seen this animation and I thought it was rather good. I never saw
it go to air though which I thought was a shame.

Hi Sacha,
Life in Tasmania is pretty good at the moment. I had a chat with a gaffer
in Hobart who is currently working on a low budget/no budget DV project.
It's being shot on weekends and I offered to help, so at last I'm getting
some extra curricular activity happening outside work.
I had a chat to Arnie about the subscribathon. It sounded a lot like last
year (ie. disorganised) but then again, this IS community TV we're talking
about. If it's not fun then what's the point? I'm still hanging out to see
the latest season of The Loft Live. Arnie has promised (twice) to send me
a tape but I'm still waiting. If you see him, give him a gentle reminder
from me :-)

The Subscrib-a-thon isn't too bad.. well, sort of... hehehe.. Still, the
station needs the $$$. But yes, it is fun... that's why i've been hanging
around for close to 4 years (-8

Ch31 is a community station - if you were to produce a show and submitted it to
the station, they would air it for you !
So, what's on 31 ? Everything !.. There is a great range of ethnic programs
that just don't have the exposure on 'normal' stations such as your 7,9,10 and
SBS. You can also find a great program called 'in pit lane' - just the thing if
you're into drag racing or motorbikes!. Two more great shows are Under
Melbourne Tonight - What's Going on there ? This is a crazy game show hosted by
Stephen Hall and Rastas. Both Stephen and Rastas have writing credits for shows
like Full Frontal etc. and The Loft - A late-night chat show. Usually
comprising of two guests a band and a comedian. Guests that the loft has had on
include Lavinia Nixon (Hey Hey!) Larry Emdour (Price is right) Glen Ridge (Sale
of the Centry) and John Brumby (Opposition leader here in Victoria)
So, hope that goes towards answering the question! You're missing out! Hope
that you get a ch31 (or whatever) sometime soon - it's more than fun, it's
completely addictive ! <g>
