The popular Facebook website, which connects peers and classmates,
also gives predators an opportunity to find unsuspecting victims.
Facebook permits access to anyone with a legitimate university e-mail
address. Students, professors, graduate assistants, landscapers and
electricians - all people at the university - have a legitimate
university e-mail address. In other words, every employee or student
at this university can view the information posted on an individual's
personal page.
When I began working on the campus, I discovered how accessible the
website was. Older male colleagues would log onto the website and
"check out" random women they met or saw on the campus. If they saw a
woman wearing sorority letters, they searched the sorority until a
picture of the woman appeared. By simply clicking on the photo, they
gained access to the woman's personal information. I trust my
colleagues, but I doubt every person with a university e-mail address
is as trustworthy.
Facebook is a danger to students. Almost every woman I know reveals
her residence on the website. Some mistakenly believe because viewing
one's page is limited to others at their university, it is safer than
other blog-type websites that have open access. However, a predator
would be more likely to know and pursue someone local. Online
predators abduct and abuse kids they meet on the Internet every day.
Why would it be any different on a college campus?
Even scarier, people can post photos of others on their accounts and
label their names. This is a problem for athletes who find themselves
facing penalties because fans post questionable photos of them. These
photos may or may not be valid, but athletic administrators and
coaches - who also have university e-mail addresses - can easily
search athletes' names and access the photos.
Worst of all, Facebook exposes the insecurity of some college
students. By posting intimate details and graphic photos, they portray
themselves as potential victims.
I admit when I was a naive freshman, I created a Facebook account. I
posted my biographical information, my hobbies, my residence and a
link to my personal photographs. Because I used Facebook primarily to
chat with friends and link to old high school classmates, I did not
see the potential dangers. In fact, I thought it was a great
opportunity to catch up with old friends and create relationships with
acquaintances. If I met people, I plugged in their names and learned
about their personalities. A friend of mine even referred to the
website as "the stalker pages."
Students use Facebook to boast about their drinking habits, their
relationships and their opinions. Friends can publicly comment on one
another's pages. When students have new and attractive photos of
themselves - often half-naked vacation photos - they immediately
attach them to their home pages. When Facebook users change their
photos, their friends are indicated of the updates as soon as they log
on.
In addition to exposing photos, students post their instant messenger
screen names, which link to more information. People often use away
messages to inform their friends of where they are. To predators, this
is another tool. There are only so many McKeldin libraries in College
Park.
I encourage all students with a Facebook account to reassess what
information they choose to expose online. The Internet can be a
powerful tool, but it can also be a dangerous source for criminals and
perverts. In addition, employers have caught on to the Facebook
obsession and often find ways to check the profiles of potential
employees for implicating information and photographs.
My Facebook days are over.

Not to mention all those lovely Facebook apps get access to your data,
too. Sounds like a good reason to check it out with fake data before
putting your real info out there.
I'll vouch for Facebook being a dangerous scourge as much as anyone, but if
she couldn't find the tab marked "Privacy" at the top of the page then she
can't have been looking too hard.
Dion
Correct.
Although, it's a bit dodgy that someone who claims "I added almost
everyone who asked to be a friend, added every application that was
sent from contacts." is also using that 'privacy' feature.
Good point, well made.
So what do you think a bald middle aged male posing in here as 'John'
was really doing posing as a nubile teen female on a social networking
website if his claim about 'research' doesn't hold up?
I wasn't using the privacy feature, you idiot.
Of course you weren't you AG Webb-esque perv!
How could you possibly pose as a nubile teen female and introduce yourself
to as many nubile teen females as you obviously desired if you had the
privacy features on Facebook switched on?
You've been rumbled big-style Shag and I bet Melissa doesn't know about any
of this either.
You'll be stealing nubile teen knickers off neighbours washing lines next.
Finding horny bisexual women to add as friends on his real profile.
Either that or horny middle eastern men.....
For himself or his missus?

See above.
Ouch.

Yes, well done XR8. He came back to dish up a king hit to his old

Thankfully if he is only 31 as he says then I did not go to school with
him. There was a John Heath in my class at school but he would be in his
mid forties. I doubt if he would be quite as stupid as this one either
given the school that I went to, although there were a few idiots there.
LOL! Elitist private school huh?
Yeah, only smart kids go there. Not just kids with rich parents.
No, really!
I could hear that one coming. Yes I did go to a private school, however
my parents were not rich as such, I actually paid for it myself from an
inheritance from my Grandmother. I may not be the smartest person on the
block but I don't have a page where I pose as a lesbian to get other
girls to like me, and I'm certainly not stupid enough, if I did have
one, to admit that it is my page.
Nothing wrong with going to a private school in my opinion, as most of
the kids there are wanting to get an education and pay attention in
class. Big difference from state schools where teachers are told to 'f'
off on a regular basis. There were a few who had way too much money and
tried to be irresponsible, however generally they were sorted out fairly
quickly. In my day you could still get 'six of the best' and the person
who meted out the discipline was pretty good at it.

All completely irrelevant. I went to a bad high school in the worst federal
electorate in Australia for university attendance. Only 3% of people in the
electorate I grew up in ever attend university. I attended the best
university in the country and did two degrees and was doing a masters when
I got sick. What high school you went to means nothing. It's what you do
with yourself that matters.
I should amend that. It's not 3% attendance, it's 3% actually finish a
degree.
Not completely irrelevant Ruud, however in some senses I agree with you.
It definitely is what you do with yourself that matters and not where
you went to school. I spent many years working in the education sector
and found that some of the best students came from the toughest
situations and they could cope with the struggles of university life a
lot better than some who had been to private schools. That said though,
it is a slight advantage to have gone to a private school if you wish to
get into a degree as generally they have a higher overall ranking based
on this stupid system that is in place where each school is ranked in
order to determine the students overall university entrance score.

Unfortunately no one can believe anything he says. His record on here
is one of deception and dishonesty, by his own admission he has posted
under a variety of user names to try and fool people into thinking he
was someone else. I can't recall him ever explaining that away as
researching spam either just quietly.
One of the problems with believing the online 'John' is that we now
know that when online on facebook he is a she and the reason for it is
not yet fully clear, although it's pretty obvious.
>There was a John Heath in my class at school but he would be in his

Was this bloke stupid enough to use his asr-hell email address on a
publicly accessible website where he was posing as a female teen skank
accepting invitations for friendship from horny middle eastern men and
other teen females (most of which were likely to be similarly bald hen
pecked husbands looking for a bit of pic trading with other fruitcakes
while their missus slept upstairs unaware of their husbands cyber
adultery)?
You know, for someone who has defended his illegal threats to
physically harm people who say things that are hurtful to his wife
you'd have to be embarrassed to be found out pulling yourself off to
all and sundry on a dodgy website whilst masking yourself as a nubile
teen female dirtbag.
To then go online and boast that you work with young women in a
supervisory role is of course very courageous.
The word 'nubile' just means marriageable.
I haven't seen you this active in ages, Davey. In my low volume news
group a sudden change in activity like this is pretty noticeable. It's
obvious I'm a fascinating topic for you and you can't get enough. I
knew I loomed as a huge figure in your life, but I really didn't know
it was this bad.
You can make up all the crap you like about this, you've obviously
decided to continue the line (lie) that that profile was of a teen and
targetting other teens, that it was some nefarious secret kept from my
wife, and you're happy to insinuate all sorts of shit but really, how
significant are you?
The problem is that a lying turd who keeps lying long enough ends up
fooling some people. At least you're predictable - I expect this
diarrhoea storm to continue for some time. I've already responded to
the above BS and it hasn't stopped you from repeating it, so have your
fun. I have no intention of spending the next six months responding to
the same shit over and over. Why not call me Sam again?

You're in your mid forties? I guessed from the proud announcement at
the top of every post that you used to own an XR8 that you were fairly
young, because most petrolheads grow out of it.
There's a bloke living across the road from me who has a Torana he
feels he needs to rev the sh!t out of every morning. He also finds it
mandatory to put his foot down as he takes off down the street,
presumably thinking the thing has wings. Must be a young bloke, I
thought. Inconsiderate young bloke, oh well, no shortage of those,
that's life.
Incorrect. He must be late 30s at least, or more likely early 40s.
I've seen him across the way a lot of weekends, tinkering with the
bloody thing. It's loud, but it don't run so good, buddy. Might as
well piss it off for something that does, I reckon. If you own a
Torana and an equally loud, equally sh!thouse purple HQ ute then we
might be neighbours.
So after deliberately making a false imputation as to my reason for
creating the profile, you say your policy would be to lie about it. I
guess you don't often take the moral high ground. Honesty equates with
stupidity, apparently. If you're stupid enough to think the esteem of
a bunch of lefty morons in a newsgroup (because they're the only ones
who give a sh!t about it) is worthy of making up a story to cover up
something meaningless, then I guess your whole apparatus of judgement
needs a bit of attention.
Of course it would be no small wonder that a Facebook profile exists
with an identical email address to one you use in the newsgroup unless
you created it, and then the fact you thought it significant enough to
try to hide would actually be proof enough that there was something
worth hiding. Dishonesty and bad logic in one convenient package. Good
effort.

They phased out corporal punishment while I was in high school. I got
the strap once n year 8 and found myself much more apt to behaving
afterward. Mind you, it was a bit rough that I got it, since it was
for a fight started by someone mistaking me for someone else and
spitting on me, and was ended by the brave soul's older mate taking
over and giving me a towelling.
Wayne Goss grew up in Inala, studied law and rose to lead his State.
It's all up to the individual.
I agree, but there has to be some method of comparing the relative
merits of schools - and we're nowhere near having a truly uniform
system where everyone studying a particular course sits the same exam.
I like the idea but the devil is in the detail.
One of my mates at ADFA got an OP2 in 1994 but was the dux of his
school, straight VHAs, and one of the leading engineering students in
1995. Certainly no dummy. His sin was to be from Kingaroy High.
Actually I owned it up until last year when it was unfortunately
destroyed in an accident that thankfully did not leave my wife with
permanent injuries. And for your information it was not her fault, she
was the victim of another driver not paying attention and plowing into a
number of cars that were stopped at the traffic lights. My wife was the
driver of the first vehicle that was hit. dAs for owning an XR8 Sprint,
it was a choice of vehicle which suited the fact that I often undertook
long road trips where having the comfort and power of a V8 was an
advantage especially in overtaking vehicles that were not traveling at
the speed limit and for covering long distances with ease. I have no
regrets about owning the vehicle and would have another in a heartbeat.
I never was a hoon but I like to know that I have enough power to
comfortably tow something and to get out of trouble if I need to. Up
here, there are often road trains 3 or 4 trailers in length which to
comfortably overtake you need reasonable amounts of power.

He probably does it because he knows it annoys you. I rarely pressed the
loud pedal in anger in my vehicle as I respected the mechanicals too
much. The vehicle was 13 years old when it was destroyed and was still
in excellent mechanical condition. In fact the insurance company gave me
more than the recommended price for the vehicle because of the excellent
condition it was in.

I doubt it as I live in North Queensland not in Brisbane. Secondly my
vehicles are maintained to a standard where I can immediately jump in
and drive to Darwin or Melbourne if needs be.
Doesn't change the fact that you are trying to make an inference that is
shallow and baseless though. Unfortunately for you, your work is
plastered all over the internet.
Actually I stated that I would not do it. Secondly I didn't say that I
would lie about it, I said I would not admit to owning it. There is a
difference. I just would not answer the question.

I never copped a towelling in school from anyone. Then again the couple
of people who decided to take me on quickly decided it was not a good
idea. I was very big and very strong in school. Most people were my
friends and before you make another assumption, I was not a bully.

Correct. Look at GW Bush. No educational qualifications, spent his
youth with his head in a bucket of blow, his 20's 30's and 40's as a
drunk and is currently the world's most unpopular war criminal due to
his support for the Bin Laden family and their oil interests.

Have to admit that I wondered about this myself.
The problem you and I have is this: We cannot think like a fruitcake
unless we are fruitcakes.
Anthongy Webb didn't seem to have a problem with people thinking it
odd to see him posting photos of his alleged penis on social
networking websites. So he doesn't hide it.
Aaron Medows couldn't work out why people thought his desire for sex
with children was odd. So he doesn't hide it.
'John Heath' probably doesn't think much of being found out posing as
a teenage female ho offering cyber sex to all comers on Facebook. So
he doesn't hide it.
These are not 'normal' responses so 'normal' people like you and i
can't see the logic of it.
We can't put ourselves in the position to accept we would even
consider doing such things, let alone think of how we would react when
found out.
People talk about how tougher sentences will reduce crime, but they
forget that every criminal works on the basis that they are not going
to get caught. You and I think we will, so tougher sentencing seems to
work to deter us, but we are not criminals in the first place and
wouldn't commit those crimes anyway.
This clearly is not a problem for weirdos like those mentioned above.
They have already rationalised that their abnormal behavior is OK, so
when someone wanders by and finds out you are posing as a chick on
Facebook and asks you about it, you would say, 'Yeah, I created a make
believe profile of a female teen bimbo and I decided to have fun with
it after attracting attention from middle eastern men. So what?

It seems to me that whenever 'John' gets a spanking in here he always
wants to refer to the numerous fights he's been in over the years.
Sounds like something out of Once Were Warriors to me.
Wow, classy. Must draw quite a crowd in the carpark at Super Cheap

Just for a couple of days and then I'm off again. Maybe I'll post
maybe I won't.
A tip: learn to read IP addresses, and don't believe everything you
read. Someone might be manipulating you. Read that over and over until
it clicks.
BTW, if you succeed in driving John out of here - which I actually

I wouldn't take too much notice of AB. The recent revelations about his

Marinella dig him/herself out of the sh!t he/she's copping for his dubious
online antics. The best they have come up with so far is to pick on your
spelling and your vehicle - real kapow material there.
That, coupled with the fact AB couldn't Google anything derogatory about me
meant he resorted to using bit.ly to try and associate me with a site to do
with male castration, pretty much sums up the character of the "bloke".
It's back to the old Slippery Sam days for him I'm afraid where it's not

he feels the need to share them on this public forum. Is it any wonder he

elite group on ASRL who got found out.

Hardly, we should all be grateful to John for bringing the group back

You're back to posting under multiple socks. That's healthy.
I was worried you might slink off after you were busted posting

I mean, who cares, really?
Mind you, that post about Ruud was pretty mean. I'm glad you've tried

You either have integrity or you don't. Evasion and lying are the same
thing. The only reason you would do either, in any event, would be if
you had something to hide and/or gave a shit about what the newsgroup
thinks of you.
> I never copped a towelling in school from anyone. Then again the couple

I wasn't going to. I was a tall and skinny kid. With people my own age
I more than held my own, much to the surprise of a few, but at 13 it
was too big an assignment taking on a 15-year-old. A valuable lesson
in humility and the blue in the first place was something I wasn't
even really too excited about. I was more bemused that this guy spat
on me and started swinging, and I only barrelled him because it seemed
to be the appropriate thing to do under the circumstances.
The only times I can remember firing up at school was in year 12 when
someone in my year picked on/tried to rob my younger brother, who was
in year 8, and I was king hit on a train once. That did get me going,
as there was some football field history there and I was furious he'd
firstly sucker punched me and much more heinously, took something off
the footy field. This particular piece of shit also did the big brave
toughie guy act of bailing me up with three of his mates at an
interschool athletics carnival at QE2, and I stupidly took my eyes off
him as he turned to leave. He swung back and belted me and broke my
nose, which to this day has a badly deviated septum. I don't know why
he had to be such a coward since he was well and truly fitter and
stronger than I was, but that's bullies for you. You see the same
coward's castle antics in here, too.
I actually saw the guy about a year ago at Central station. He flashed
past running off somewhere and it took a while to register the face. I
wasn't quite sure what to make of it, really - getting worked up over
a schoolboy bully smacking me 16 years ago didn't quite seem right but
I couldn't help but think I wouldn't have rushed to give him CPR if
he'd been hit by a bus.
Were you a boarder and what years were you there?
Now that's funny.
So it was a reference to someone named Max apparently "sux"ing cox?
Then it was precisely what my sick and perverted little mind was
thinking. Could you please explain how this hilarious and intricate
work of comedic genius, or your fond remembrance of it as an alleged
adult, somehow elevates you and your school above me? My sick and
perverted little mind is having trouble understanding.
Sounds like a bunch of spoilt rich twats to me. Those aren't pranks,
they're sabotage. I'm sure the people working their arses off to raise
funds for the school and provide the best facilities and education
possible were delighted to see some antisocial little cunt had seen
fit to drop a car into the pool and kill the lawn. Vandalism and
homophobic anonymous bullying. Fuck, I sure feel ripped off to have
missed it.
The painting of the oval was directed at the headmaster who shall we say
enjoyed the odd tipple or two. If he had have been more on the ball and
had believed what the students were telling him the the school would
have saved thousands of dollars in legal fees and reparation. I believe

car it was had upset a few of the students.

I started in year 10 there in 1978 and started boarding midway through
1979 and left in 1980. I babysat Glasscock's children at one point. They
