Carney, Goodwin stood down by Raiders

Canberra playmaker Todd Carney is being investigated by police for allegedly
urinating on a member of the public inside a Canberra nightclub on Sunday
evening.
Trouble-prone playmaker Carney and teammate Bronx Goodwin have been stood
down indefinitely by the NRL club pending a police investigation.
The pair are assisting ACT police with their inquiries following an incident
at a Canberra nightspot early on Monday.
ACT Police have confirmed they are investigating three separate incidents of
assault, two involving a 24-year-old male outside the premises and the other
a 22-year-old male earlier in the evening inside the premises.
The 24-year-old, believed to be Goodwin, is alleged to have assaulted two
other men at 11.40pm on Sunday.
The 22-year-old, believed to be Carney, is under investigation for an
assault which occurred earlier inside the premises.
AAP understands a member of the public has made a complaint that Carney
urinated on him inside All Bar Nun in Canberra.
Canberra officials would not confirm the allegations but earlier on Tuesday
said they would stand both players down pending the police investigation.
"We are going to stand both Bronx and Todd Carney down," Raiders chief
executive Don Furner said on Tuesday.
He would not comment on any possible terms in either player's contract that
would see them face further disciplinary action if any misbehaviour was
proved.
"It's just the best thing we should do at the moment until they (police)
sort that out rather than have that hang over their heads while they're
playing or picked," Furner said.
Asked how the trouble affected him, he said: "I just get more grey hair,
that's all."
Carney has been in trouble before.
Last year the halfback was sentenced to 200 hours of community service and
banned from driving until 2012 after pleading guilty to a string of driving
offences on May 18.
He was immediately suspended by the Raiders and only returned to action six
weeks later when he turned out for the club's Premier League side in a game
against Newcastle.
Neither player was available for comment on Tuesday.
Skipper Alan Tongue admitted the suspensions would disrupt the in-form
Raiders.
"As a playing group we're just getting on with the footy," Tongue said.

Was my local. Used to be a good pub, probably still is. They had Coopers on
tap so there can't be too much wrong with it. I lived 1 minute walk from it
and drank thousands of pints. Everyone knew you didn't go there Sunday
night if the Raiders were playing Sunday afternoon, or during the mad
monday celebrations. Just stay away and let them have the place to
themselves. You can have it the rest of the week.

Carney's Defense :-
Option 1 - "It was close to full time and I was trying to make a
golden point"
Option 2 - "I told the guy he was p!ssing me off, he said it's better
that being p!ssed on, so I did some research. He was Wrong".
Option 3 - "I was checking for spam"
Option 4 - "My mother gave me some diarectics and my bladder control
was weakened as a result. I had to take a leak or suffer
urimysotosis".
Option 5 - "He's just lucky I didn't need to take a crap".
Option 6 - "The guy was called me a drug cheat and said I'd never pass
a urine test, so I p!ssed on him and told him to take his clothes to
get swabbed and get back to me with the results"

If that's true then he's just pissed on his own career and his team's finals
chances...
Yeah that was my first thought when I read the story. The biggest apology
should be saved for his team-mates if the story is true. They were well and
truly top 8 bound on their recent form, this won't help...
Cheers

The dumb gene seems to be strong amongst the Goodwins.

sounds like another raiders cover up. Wonder how much it cost for the
complaints against carney to be dropped, or how much pressure Tilse put
on his mate to cop a golden shower for the raiders? Sounds like they
couldn't get the two guys allegedly assaulted to drop the complaints
against Goodwin though. Honestly this has been going on ever since the
Raiders have been in the comp, and especially during the early 90s when
they were at their peak. They got away with everything, it was all hushed
up, hardly any charges were laid and the federal cops had a quiet word to
the alleged victims promising to make their lives hell if they
complained. I'm amazed the two guys accusing Goodwin are going ahead with
the complaints, there is usually a hell of a lot of pressure to drop it.
But everyone knows if you go to a pub in Canberra after a game and the
Raiders walk in, you walk out.
You wouldn't know.
His parents named him Bronx. There's a very good chance they're
idiots, and so are he.
Do you have any evidence for the amazing power of the Raiders over the
Feds? I spent two winters in Canberra pubs and saw the players out a
few times. Never a single problem.
He's a Manly fan. He knows everything!

that's why you're a tafe student
Golden showers might be your thing but it's beyond stupid if Carney
actually did unwelcomely piss on that guy's leg.
9. I was told not to piss in his pocket so I pissed on his leg
instead.
I'm curious to know when such an act would be welcome?
Even if my leg was on fire, I'd have serious reservations.
