Any chance to be up to an emergency/back up tall defender?
BTW: You heard it here 1st.... a name to watch for in 2010. He
played 3 games whilst doing VCE in 2008, training less than half a
dozen times, winning our Best 1st Year Player. In '09, he began his
1st real year, managing to play all games bar a few where he was
injured. Wiser footy folks noticed him.
He is a medium or biggish small, as hard as nails, and I have just
seen the kid in the gym, and he is enormous!! His arms are like
chiselled granite. With strength to add to his existing toughness and
skill, I'll predict CALLAN WARD will stand up and be VERY noticed next
season.
Cooney, Griffen, Higgins, Boyd, Cross, Giansiracusa, Akermanis,
Johnson, WARD, Eagleton & Picken. That eleven (nearly all top
quality) options to rotate thru the middle. Who needs a fab 4 when
you got a cricket team?

Edwards is a dud Matt.
Son of Butch (Richmond, Collingwood, Footscray), who
played 113 games in 10 seasons.
Hartlett got the chop as well, better player than
Edwards and a bigger body, if I were looking at either
I'd take him.
Injury prone though.
Alan Edwards (only called "Butch" because another famous VFL player had
that nickname, and we all know how original footy players can be....)
Basically because did his knee early in his career at Richmond, and was
never close to the same afterwards (ended up having 3 knee reco's). Before
he was injured he looked like a potential superstar - and this was in the
mid 1970's when the Tigers had teams full of superstars.

Yes David, I remember his unfortunate injuries, he was
sure a good footballer, not sure about the superstar
tag.
His son isn't as good a footballer, and from all
accounts he's disinterested as well.

When you win best first year player in a club that has just won two
Premierships in a row, you aren't going that bad.....

Thanks for the heads up. I do recal "Butch", we copped him after
Richmond. He was an injured hack who held up the bar in the social
club many times, and made a few ordinary apearances in the team.
