Why are there only those two alternatives?

BRITT Lapthorne's father wants a Federal commitment to fully
investigate her death as he prepares to farewell his daughter today.
Dale Lapthorne returned home from Croatia on Sunday night with the
body of his 21-year-old daughter.
Britt went missing in the Croatian coastal town of Dubrovnik on
September 18, and her badly decomposed body was found in the sea on
October 8.
Croatian police were unable to determine how the bubbly university
student died, and the Victorian coroner will now undertake an autopsy
at the request of her family.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm today at a community centre
near the family's Eden Park home northeast of Melbourne.
"It's a very trying time," Mr Lapthorne told radio this morning.
"We're having Britt's memorial service today, so it's going to be
extremely difficult, but we'll get through.
"It's just one of those things we have to face, I guess."
Mr Lapthorne said he knew Britt was murdered and he wanted answers.
"I want a commitment from the Australian government that we're to
pursue this case to the end," he said.
"I've had various commitments but I'm not totally convinced that the
commitment or the desire for the commitment is there, especially as
there are other issues that seem to always come in, and that seems to
be the Australian-Croatian relations and that we don't have any rights
within the jurisdiction of Croatia."
Mr Lapthorne remained critical of the role of the Australian Federal
Police in the investigation into his daughter's disappearance and
death, and said he was disappointed with the poor answers provided by
Commissioner Mick Keelty to a Senate committee.
He said that before he left Australia for Croatia, the AFP told him
and his wife, Elke, to "tone down and restrain" their contact with the
media.
"(We were told) we must think of the bigger issues of Croatian-
Australian relations," he said.
"I just got furious, we screamed at them on the phone, we said: `You
are public servants of Australia, we are Australian citizens and we
are not going to allow you to sacrifice my daughter's life for the
sake of relations'."
Mr Lapthorne said he was told last night that the Australian
ambassador to Croatia had returned to Dubrovnik and would remain there
for "some period".
"It certainly shows the Australian people's desire to have an answer
and the importance of the issue to the Australian people," he said.

So the AFP give him advice, he fails to follow that advice, the
situation turns to shit, and now he blames the AFP. How THICK is this
guy? FFS man, the AFP told you that if you didn't behave in the
manner they suggested, then you would get no cooperation from the
Croation authorities. Why not just do what you were told? Actions
have consequences. I'm sick to death of your constant whinging.
agreed ! This family is quite strange.....

As I said before, this will be dragged on for a month or so, either by the
