Someone at Steamrail might know. They did some painting on one of their VR
blue carriages a couple of years ago.

They also use it for the front cover of "Stack Talk", so I'm guessing
they may be able to give you the computer font for it.

I used to have it - but forget what it is called now. Invite Engraved or
something similar I seem to recall. I'd better try and find it again.

Don't know if there is an exact computer font to match the art deco font,
there is more than likely one very close. For the carriages we have had
repainted, the lettering has been done by hand based on original VR
lettering. Where the VR did not have a letter that matched (K in Kiosk on
the BRS car) he recreated the letter using the styles as found in other
letters to create a match. It's quite a painstaking task.

I'll ask.

And how many words ever appeared in the font?
AFAIK:
First
Second

Presumably
Dining, Parlor

I recall having
Moorabool, Spirit of Progress

So I guess
Wimmera, Avoca, Taggerty, Mitta Mitta, Tanjil

I will have to look at some old photos.

Was there one size, or were there two?

AFAIK "Sleeping" and "VR" also appeared in art deco. (I may be wrong)

Was "Mini Buffet" on the MBS cars in art deco or just the plain sans
serif font?

I thought you used "Second" and "Buffet" on the BRS?

IIRC, the MBS would have come after art deco was abandoned on broad gauge.

Art deco was applied to all blue cars for a short time. This probably
included Taggerty, Kiewa and Moyne, although I've never seen any photos of
them at this time.

I thought the correct code was MRS? Or was this another car still?
