"Rob Oakeshott ... had promised he would announce in mid-March whether
he would run in this years election. But with that deadline up at the
end of this week, Mr Oakeshott told The Australian he was now likely to
delay any statement until after the federal budget is delivered on May 14.

I doubt the Budget will bring much hope".

Comment: Well, we've had the budget and Swan has failed to stick to his
'surplus' promise and will exceed the debt ceiling in a few years, so
what are you waiting for?

At the end of the day the Indepdents have failed the electorate.
Starting with Wilkie - whose requirement for mandatory commitment was
the first to be dumped by Gillard - or was it the commitment to better
governance - treated with contempt by the ALP - the party of crooks.

yet they are polling 6.2% of the vote, go figure. It is my belief that many
people would love to dump the 2P system if a decent independent. Even with
his faults ( esp. that rust bucket he drove) Ted Mack was good value which
is why I voted for him in the deep dark past

Um, not at all. They saved us from three years of catastrophe under Tony Abbott.
They have done this country a great service.

Whoa. Whoa. That's awfully strong language: crooks.

Strong language? No. It merely describes the ALP. The only 'strong'
around here is the smell of ALP corruption.

BTW, what did persuade Ms. Gillard to abandon mandatory commitment? Did
she pray to The Lord for guidance?

With Slipper on board she did not need Wilkie any more. The policy was bleeding
votes.
