First Encyclopedia dramatica (a satrical site like Sickopedia is a
site for sick jokes) was placed on the ACMA blacklist, a “secret” list
of websites to be censored throughout Australia in their upcoming
internet filter. After this list was leaked to the public, we all
laughed about how we were put on a blacklist with “Wikipedia entries,
euthanasia sites, websites of fringe religions, Christian sites, and
even the websites of a tour operator and a Queensland dentist“.
Meanwhile, Australia Communications Minister Stephen Conroy called for
the arrests of Australians publishing the list!
It shows to me how an idiot can go far in politics just through a
moronic belief in an ideology and the luck of having joined a
political party.
# That is also true of how just ordinary Russian people joining the Party
could have neighbours shipped off to the gulags by quoting them saying
derogatory things about Party. Human nature to exploit authority for its
own sake. As Shakespeare said...it makes the angels weep.

Interesting thing is that he refused to comply with the request of the
Senate and table all the documents they requested.
What is he hiding?
Who the fuck is Shakespeare?"
he was a singer in the 1960's wasn't he ??
I knew he was cuckoo but I didn't know about the speed humps. Have you a
reference?
>1 Wanted to put speed humps on freeways. (I'm not juoking)
If you are not joking you will be able to provide the source of this
claim.

The technical decision to provide fibre to the premises was the result
of the work done by the Panel of Experts <http://tinyurl.com/ycedq27>
that was appointed over a year before the Government launched NBNCo
<http://www.nbnco.com.au/about-nbn-co/history-of-nbnco>. Although the
panel did not consider the financial aspects of implementing FTTP one
of the members was the Secretary to the Treasury so I think we can
assume that Dr Henry and the Treasury helped Conroy and Rudd do their
sums.
> after the Telestra sale didn't work out.
Which Telstra sale didn't work out? The Howard government either sold
Telstra to the public or transferred it to the Future Fund. Under the
Labor government the Future Fund's sale of about one third of their
shares in Telstra worked out so well that they were accused of insider
trading.
>3 Wants to censor the internet.
Even that's doubtful. His censorship plan consists of providing a
couple of thousand URLs that Internet Service Providers are supposed
to block. It seems more like satisfying a deal with Fielding rather
than a serious attempt to filter the Internet.

That would be a welcome change. Can you provide the name of just one
Liberal or Labor MP that would sacrifice their political future for
their ideology.

Luck! You have obviously never been a member of a political party.
He's a total nutter.

The whole NBN project is mad. It was concocted between Broadband
Minister Stephen Conroy and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and discussed
in the kitchen cabinet - comprising Rudd, Julia Gillard, Wayne Swan
and Lindsay Tanner - the day before it was announced last April. The
decision was made without any business plan and with only the most
rudimentary costing.
So much for the nameless panel of "experts".
It appeared at the time that the announcement was designed to cover up
the scandal of the failed original tender for a high-speed fibre
network, which cost taxpayers $20 million. The failed tender showed
that the NBN couldn't be built without Telstra's co-operation
So a 46 billion dollar investment, that involved destroying Telstras
existing 20 billion dollar infrastructure that lack s business plan.
The home owner will be force to have the cable laid, he will be forced
to have a optical set top box and pay for the both the box and the
installation (how many installements). He/She will then have to pay
twice the price for a plain and simple fixed phone line.

What utter weazel words

If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck then its a duck.
Its censorship. Spell it slowly C-E-N-S-O-R-S-H-I-P
It also doesn't cover just child pornography, the net is cast really
wide and covers ethunasia sites and sites that have satire and sick
jokes (such as encyclopedia dramatica, and sickopedia) it covers even
Wikipedia articles and 'fringe' religious groups.
Conroy, just to show how autharitarian and dictatorial he is wants to
jail the people that revealed his secret list.
Is stalin or the chinese government any worse than fielding? Hey,
does Conroy pro or Anti Fallon gong? Will he censor stuff in
response to foreign governments that feel insulted?
You can't blame Fielding for this. He's responsible for the porn part
of it, that;s all.

This guy is a simpleton and a petty tyrant. It is amazing he has
attained the power he is wielding with such an defict of character and
intellect. I certainly don't want him there.
Says it all. It took us hundreds of thousands of years to get out of the
trees and learn to walk upright - all lost when we elected Labor and Conroy.
You don't read the serious criticisms of the Rudd style of government
<http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/features/the-rudd-gang-of-four/story-e6frg6z6-1225795556696>
and you treat the satirical articles you do read as serious. AS USUAL
a decision was made by the inner cabinet plus the relevant minister.
Treasury and Finance were represented. Do you think they both forgot
to take their departmental briefing?
>
>So much for the nameless panel of "experts".
You don't even read the material you respond to. I provided the names
of the Panel members in the URL above. I'll repeat it
<http://tinyurl.com/ycedq27>.
From the page that is cited above:
"The Australian Government is moving quickly to fulfil its election
commitment to support the roll-out of a new national high-speed fibre
broadband network, by investing up to $4.7 billion," Senator Conroy said.
I reckon Ken Henry knows the difference between $4.7b and $43b.
You may recall that the process ended in complete failure - nobody wanted to
be involved. Rather than accept that the $4.3b idea was completely
unworkable, they just increased the budget ten-fold.
Wish I could get away with that. A project over-run of $38 b before work has
even started, and this is considered acceptable.
Jeez I wish we had Garrett running this instead of Conroy. Garrett seems
much better at service delivery. The most he has ever wasted in one hit is
only $2.5b.
Thats government for ya, wasteful spending on internet porn and the
putting a finger in to stop the leaking by
unworkable censorship.
Watch the next pay rise for these clowns as they blame the poor and
the elderly for the deficit
