The phrase was used upon the occasion I demonstrated my waterboarding
technique by raising a jug of water to one of the patrons, with respect
to a cafe I frequent: ROYS Famous, which is situated opposite a house of
prostitution.
Anthony the proprietor of the cafe took exception to my calling him
dishonest in the provision of goods and services--past patrons such as
Rene Rivkin, who had a history of dishonesty in business, on 1 May 2005
took his life!
I discussed the coffee as "Geen {No} slaaper {sleepy; slaap-middel:
opiate, sleeping-pill} lul {dick; lullen-talk nonsense (malarkey);
lullig-stupid} koffee!"
lull (verb)
[ trans. ] calm or send to sleep, typically with soothing sounds or
movements : the rhythm of the boat lulled her to sleep.
• cause (someone) to feel deceptively secure or confident : the rarity
of earthquakes there has lulled people into a false sense of security.
• allay (a person's doubts, fears, or suspicions), typically by deception.
• [ intrans. ] (of noise or a storm) abate or fall quiet : conversation
lulled for an hour.
lull (noun)
a temporary interval of quiet or lack of activity : for two days there
had been a lull in the fighting.
PHRASES: the lull before the storm see storm. ORIGIN Middle English:
imitative of sounds used to calm a child; compare with Latin lallare
‘sing to sleep’, Swedish lulla ‘hum a lullaby’, and Dutch lullen ‘talk
nonsense’. The noun (first recorded in the sense [soothing drink]) dates
from the mid 17th cent.
As distinction to his normal sycophancies (a quintessential personality
trait if you operate a cafe), is that the long macchiato (a coffee
pleasure which I first partook of in Roma, Italy) which he has been
serving up, comprises only a single shot and not a double shot of
espresso topped up with steamed milk. I wont ever be going back, as I
conveyed by my then leaving and obtaining a MacDonald's breakfast in
preference.

Pinku-Sensei (pinku-...@caballista.org): "For his long history of
creatively analyzing the English language in kooky ways along his
general illucidity, I nominate Dolf Boek AKA Qolon for this award.
Yes, Qolon is still posting. Here's the subject and Message ID of one of
his recent contributions: "So who did make cactus Mr. Costello?"
No, he's not covered by Formosa's Law, as he falls under Postie's
Asshole Exception. Seconds for Qolon?"
ru (dolf): "Will two geese do?"
According to media reports it was at 1527 hours on 15 January 2009, that
a Canadian goose (non migratory and perhaps a flock as geese) which
brought down US Airways Flight 1549, known as Cactus 1549 in air traffic
control lingo--and that they may be doing further tests to confirm this.
