No, tell her to go visit Jenny Craig first
I have no issues with pillions carrying beer.
Subject to the maximum weight limit of the motorcycle, yes, you are
allowed to carry a passenger heavier than the rider.
However, it really isn't much fun, unless both rider and pillion are
experienced and co-operative.
It is much easier carrying a smaller pillion.

CrazyCam
Me either, but I prefer that they haven't drunk it first.
Tony F
Dunno I entirely agree with that, sorta.
It depends on the bike and the pillion. The two best pillions I've had
on my bike were Kerry and Cat (RIP). And they were vastly different in
body build. I reckon a lot more comes into being able to just go with
the bike and not fight it. I've been on a VF1000R loaded up so much
with weight in the gearsack and saddlebags and Kerry on the back that
getting out of our hilly street in Chatswood, the front wheel of the
bike was difficult to keep on the ground under medium throttle. Yet
she was pretty much no effect on my riding as I guess she knew somehow
what I was about to do. I could suddenly cane the Blackbird and she'd
just sit there without having to grab onto me. Fucked if I know how.
Strong thighs or something?
Cat I didn't even notice on the back of the budgie. Being a slip of a
girl and happily comfortable, you really didn't notice she was there.
On a small bike I think it would make more difference, but who wants
to ride small bikes?
<waves to Cam>.
Proving that size does matter.
John Dwyer.
Size does not matter and neither does mass :-)
...for the purposes of this thread and within the context of the
Subject heading and as set out in the introductory post.
Size may matter but a red flag attached to the end of the subject (or
even some Wide Load signage) should satisfy the authority figures.
Hi Kevin.
Is there, perhaps, some punctuation missing, or is it, as the Thespians
would say, all in the reading?
> It depends on the bike and the pillion.
Yeah.
Am I right in thinking we are in general agreement?
> On a small bike I think it would make more difference, but who wants
> to ride small bikes?
> <waves to Cam>.
Angie and I did a Pink Ribbon Ride on the pink RZ250 once.
Apart from desperate slipping of clutch to get going, and then care
being taken not to wheelie the thing, it wasn't too hard.
OTOH, I once gave a lift to a proper "bikie", a seven foot tall, built
like the proverbial brick dunnie, Hell's Angel.
His H-D was stopped on the freeway due to lack of petrol, and I took him
off the Freeway, he bought petrol and I took him back to his bike.
Now, this was with the Suzi 750 cruiser, and, at the time, my left leg
wasn't working too well, so I'd normally stop with my right foot down to
hold the bike...leaning slightly right.
Anyhow, off I go with this enormous bloke on the back. No problems up
until we get to the first red traffic light.
I'm trying to get the bike to lean slightly right, so I can get my foot
down, and the big bloke is trying to get it to stay upright, or perhaps
lean slightly left..... :-O
After a few moments of panic the guy on the back just put both of his
feet down, and held the bike vertical! :-)

CrazyCam

I just gotta ask.... Did the HA wear his colours whilst pillioning on the
Suzuki?
There must be some sorta club rule on that. Maybe I'm mistaken but 1% and
Suzuki don't kinda seem to fit together, or have the Japs become bad ass
during petrol shortages.

Hmmm, another interesting theory - does a boot up the arse kick-start Human

glass-prints on the back, hand-prints on the shoulders and the head) - and
I'm still fucken short.
So.... I think your theory's fucked.
Oooh, another possible PhD topic: Does gender have an effect on the efficacy

Well clearly it didn't matter whether I was good or bad (and believe me, I

Ditto, although I don't think I have stopped when riding a Japanese
bike, just the Guzzi or the MZ.
I did stop off at K&M HD to pick up some bits for the Norton/BSA
racing outfit once, when I was riding the Infamous MZ. At the
counter were Murray (owner, and fellow racing club member), a bod
wearing colours, and some bod in his early 20s.
The young fella started having a go at me for parking my "Jap bike"
out the front.
I looked at him, Murray looked at him, the patch-holder looked at
him, and he realised he'd put his foot in it but didn't realise
how.
No idea what conversation ensued after I left, but the patch-holder
did ask if the MZ was reliable as he was looking for a learner legal
bike for his lady.

I'd suggest sociopaths would be a more accurate generalisation than
moron. If you add "high probability of coming from a socio-
economically challenged background" you'd probably improve it as a
generalisation even more.

I don't killfile people. Ergo, I don't create a feeback loop.

The swearing doesn't bother me at all but spelling and grammar are a
different matter. You should be ashamed of yourself, young lady!

I think you could improve it gramatically for betty by replacing "to
replace" with "like", and you could drop the quotation marks too.

you can beat an egg

New rules Vicroads..
http://www.roadrules.vicroads.vic.gov.au/8_rule_motorcyclists.html
The new rules
There are three new rules for motorcyclists.
No passengers under eight years old. A young child under eight years of
age cant be carried as a passenger on a motorcycle, unless in a
sidecar.
Travelling in a sidecar. When a sidecar is used, it can only carry the
number of passengers for which it is designed.
No animals between rider and handlebars. Animals cant be carried
between the rider and the handlebars of a motorcycle.
Exemptions
There is an exemption for farmers. While working, a farmer can carry an
animal between the rider and the handlebars of a motorcycle for up to
500 metres on a road.
What you have to do
If you are carrying young passengers, other than in a sidecar make sure
that they are at least eight years old, they can reach the foot pegs and
they are wearing an approved motorcycle helmet.
Also limit your sidecar passengers and use other ways to transport
animals.
---------------
Does one have to own a farm to be called a farmer?

What?! Not even with an ostrich feather? How about if I just brush it
ever so gently over her private parts?
Do you think this conversation is getting a bit out of hand?

Easy peasy. The only time I've ridden with a dog on my bike was on the
Yarra Boulevarde in the 80s. The dog was between me and my pillion.
Nowhere near the handlebars. Dog was having a ball. I must admit to us
both being drunk and am surprised we survived that trip as the VF was
getting sparks off the road where we were bottoming the thing out
constantly as I decided we'd go home via the boulevarde than creeping
quietly home via the direct route.
A hand is sometimes better than an ostrich feather
Used to be a bloke in Melbourne who would have his dog on the back of his
bike
W.D. or Wonder Dog used to lean on the corners better than a human pillion
I once knew of a bloke they called The Farmer, but the only relativity he
had with a farm was that his parents owned a farm and he grew dope in his
backyard in Brunswick.

What part of "I think we shoud leave it here" didn't you get, George?

Gerry
The part just after "What"
In my experience ostrich / emu / peacock feathers ar not suited to
violent movement...unless still attached to the bird
They look good but you can't thrash 'em around or they break...they
don't get much thrashing around on the bird either...an Emu / Ostrich is
a bit like a mobile hay bale...the Peacock does at least fly a bit but
the feathers that get all the thrashing are small and like a chook feather
Chook feathers are eminently suitable for administering 'delicate
touches' with, and quite robust...the exotic feathers can be too fluffy
and tickly

Damn right. And if you've got one of those bikes which have the
cylinders sticking out the side, you still find small feathers in the
fins two years later.
If you're looking for feathers that can hurt you, try getting near a
wing-flapping goose.
