Hi chaps
It's been a bit quiet recently...
I've decided to dust off the old soldering iron and build a new preamp
(linestage only). My 6SN7 linestage is sounding a bit long in the tooth. As
I don't do "sand", the new preamp MUST be tube.
Maybe something like a DHT (directly heated triode) would deliver the goods.
I've got 300B, 2A3, 45, 10Y, 26, PX4, 50 DHTs in my collection. My
experience is that the smaller the DHT, the better the sound. Based on
specs, the 10Y looks good (moderate RP, highish mu). Given its RP, I am
leaning towards a transformer output. Or maybe I could employ a CF (6SN7
maybe) at the output if I didn't want to use an output transformer.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Cheers. Doug
