I don't think so. I believe it is deliberate and the result of an
underhand deal with Family First in exchange for support on something
they got through the Senate. I was even more alarmed when I read

Very interesting indeed...
Of course it's deliberate, that much is plainly obvious, the goverment is
obsessed with pushing their moral values upon us, wherever the puppet
strings come from. And it's cleverly done under the disguise of protecting
our children. Anyone who speaks out is branded as supporting child porn.
Just like speaking against global warming policy, Patriot Act stupidness, or
the ridiculous "war on terror" in the US.
He's still a dickhead though, no doubt. And a right wing catholic
delusionist to boot, the government is filled with them.
Maybe I can get one of those government grants for my blog? Where do I
apply?, seriously...

Internet communication has done an enormous amount to uncover the
climate "scam", and other things
the gov tries to shove on us, so its essential (since their absolute
power and control are not up for negotiation)
that to them the internet is silenced, if they are to implement any of
their evil schemes.
These bastards need to be gotten rid of.
Have signed the petition, and am considering sending him a letter
(note, doing this to the QLD state parliament will get you into big
trouble, hope the federal government isn't as bad, though they did do
nazi style raids in QLD on journalists who reported about areas that
wouldn't have Digital TV coverage)

As for child porn bullshit, look up the case of Illingworth in QLD who
was arrested and charged for
possession of CP. The video in question was of a circus act involving
a child that had already been shown on the TV news, showed or implied
no nudity, sex or abuse.
Last I heard the Australian censorship body gave the clip a G or
similar rating - I presume the case has now been dropped against him.
Another ridiculous case was of a person who was charged with child
porn after downloading a cartoon strip depicting "The Simpsons"
characters that were naked.
The whole point here is that CP is whatever the investigating body
WANTS it to be.
Hypothetically, I can see a possible scenario where "government X"
declares itself a "champion of protecting children from abuse" and as
a result ANY picture (opposition election poster or handbill?), video,
or written material (spoken word?) that is declared to be against the
power or interest of "government X" can be declared as "child abuse
material" or "supporting Child abuse" simply because it goes against
"government X" who is seen as the "protector of children" and any
attack on "government X" is a "direct attack on children" and
"removing this protector results in abuse" mentality.
You could extend it further and state that any opposition to a ETS or
climate tax, is child abuse, as "future children will get burnt to
ashes if we don't stop (imaginary) carbon pollution now".
This material therefore is "Child Porn / abuse", and whoever wrote it,
published it, made it, has read/looked at it it, has got it on them or
their computer, is therefore a "pedo" or "child abuser".
Great way to get rid of opposition, dissidents and free speech and to
totally discredit, and constantly monitor in future (via the pedo
register) any of these people.
When you look at the declaration of human rights, US constitution etc,
even in modern times, you reaslise that each of these rights were
written for a purpose, and the mess that can result if they are
removed or diluted.
