I am on the lookout for a R/P TV and I think I have settled on this
4:3 model as the 16:9 models are sooooooooo much more expensive.
Does anyone have any +ve or -ve comments about these machines? Also is
their anyone in Melbourne that can do me a good deal on one of these
machines?
Again, I am not sold on the idea that this is the right machine but I
am quite impressed nonetheless. Any suggestions will be much
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Henry
I do have a couple of small gripes though. The first is that I cannot use
the splitscreen functions with Foxtel (though I fully understand and
appreciate why I cant use it, it would be nice....).
Second is that my red tones dont seem to be quite right. It might be that
I just need to fiddle around more with the tone and color levels to get
the right saturation, but I havent got a level I'm completely happy with
yet
And third is that aliasing is pretty damned obvious on some of my
DVD's....especially my Region 1's (Saving Pvt Ryan is the worst for me).
But all in all.....the 50" gets the big thumbs up. And I like the styling
of the 43" as well......that thing really looks the part =)

For 50' RPTV I still recommend you the same Toshiba or Hitachi, I am
not so sure about the Hitachi, I think it may be priced at just below $5500,
the Toshiba set I have heard the price of this set has been reduce to $5000
at the Melbourne Home Entertainment show from a sales personl of Vaf
research, I recommend you try Nasonic ( on Victoria St) at Richmond for a
fine price.
( when I approached last year Tosh RPTV was selling at $5999 by other
dealers but
they could sell them for $5500.)
Nice choice, considering Panasonic is actually both more expensive than
both Hitachi
and Toshiba and with its pastel picture, I am surprise why there are still
people drawing
by its claim of 100Hz set. Hitachi and Toshiba are the market leader in
RPTV, Panasonic
with its redish colour and sony with its fuzzy and unclear image are still
way behind.
