Chaser highlights the FACT most cancer charities for kids are money
making SCAMS

As are most cancer treatments

Most kids diagnosed with cancer have NOTHING at all wrong but rich
parents needing relief from bulging wallets

The tiny number who do have cancer get NOTHING of value from
treatments offered

Cancer industry is 99.9% SCAM

The Chaser crew seem to want to be elevated to the same status as the
Monty Python team, who suffered numerous threats when the film "Life Of
Brian" was released.

If that movie was released today no doubt we'd see the usual suspects
complaining of "insensitivity" to all those who had relatives that were
crucified.......

If people don't like these things then don't watch 'em.

On a funniness scale with 10 being hilarious and 1 being vaguely
amusing I give it a 3. It was an idea that probably sounded more
amusing as an idea than it was in practice. The bit about "they are
going to die anyway" added offence but no humour.

It seems the idea itself may have been ripped off from the Comedy
Channel so I'm not sure it wasn't plagiarised.

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=821475

Personally, I found one of the preceding skits -- "Oscar Bait" more
offensive, since it depended for its humour on an extended sight gag
-- the poor GMC of muscular dystrophy sufferers -- and trivialised the
holocaust. The point of the attack -- tailoring film narratives and
themes to secure oscars is hardly novel and was done better in Ricky
Gervais's program "Extras".

I found the but where they gave the kid a pencil case and a stick funny. But
yeah saying they are going to die anyway wasn't very funny at all.
Even so why should people be deported, which is what LUR is suggesting, just
because their sketch isn't funny or offends someone?

The Chaser crew have never done anything even remotely as funny as "Life of
Brian", so I wish them luck!
However the only reason I was offended by the "make a realistic wish" skit
was that it was totally unfunny, and a waste of their time, the children
involved time, and mine. Of course they got paid, I imagine the children
involved got paid, so the big losers were the viewers expecting comedy.

Give 'em another year or two - they may do another skit on another
major "Sacred Cow" that will offend many, perhaps on some people like
those who drive like they are invincible or those who live in bushfire
prone areas and think that a watering can makes them immune from the
forces of nature?

Anyway, laughing at death and tragedy is an Australian tradition, we were
making jokes about the first space shuttle disaster while the pieces were
still falling to the ground, and some of the things I've heard that the
WW2 diggers said (when in dire situations) would make people spit chips
today.....

One common factor about any "Gallows humour" seems to be that those
directly afflicted never seem as adversary affected as those close to them
who always seem overly precious.

The 'point missed', as it also was with the 'every dead bloke was a great
bloke' song, is that they weren't pointing the bone at sick children. The
Melbourne Herald-Sun had the headline 'Chaser spits on dying kids', which
was yet another example of a [probably deliberate] misunderstanding.

Watching the skit last night, even I thought 'went a bit far, missed the
target'. But the target was the saccharine denial-of-reality media
approach to these 'young heroes', and some of the absurdity around
Make-A-Wish. Kevin missed it both times, but then he tends to do that.

I thought it was hilarious.

OTOH, I find Australia's Funniest Home Video very unfunny indeed, and think
it is sick that people find toddlers falling off swings and children
crashing their bikes funny ... fortunately I own a remote control, and do
not believe that I should impose my sense of humour on others, and so I am
happy for this program to continue to go to air.

I actually find it odd that people think what they do is amusing, as they've
never done anything *remotely* funny in my opinion. They seem more
interested in gaining notoriety (and for the wrong reasons) than being
genuinely funny, and they're not a patch on the D Generation of years ago if
you ask me.

Actually, their best shot at being genuinely amusing was lost when they did
the "official car" stunt last year. What would have been *really* funny
would have been if some over-zealous security guard thought they were fair
dinkum terrorists and plastered their brains all over the road.

I would have pissed myself laughing at that :)

Agree completely, and when talking to their fans (who generally seem to
be extremist zealots in defending them) they seem to draw mental blanks
when you remind them that half the shit is faked, that they were caught
out on this, and the one time they were interviewed about this they lost
their bottle all ran inside and hid and sent out a security guard to
chase off the reporter that was taking the piss out of them.

Seems they're fine with hanging shit on people, but pathetically gutless
when they get a bit of their own back. So apart from not actually being
funny at all, the stuff they do actually do has a strong likelihood of
being faked, and they're girl's blouses when questioned about it. Who
the fuck could respect deceptive gutless turds like this?

One big difference, Monty Python were actually funny and had talent,
were not frauds, and if they had been frauds would not have been too
gutless to face the music when given a bit of their own back over being
frauds, and would not have hid behind security guards to escape the sort
of hairy moment that they are more than happy to throw at others (in the
cases where it is not faked that is).

Hang on, that's more than one difference isn't it....

Agree with you 100% here, they didn't do anything illegal, so it's up to
the viewer if they want to watch it. Although I think as they are
publicly funded people have every right to call for that funding to be
put to something more useful (or at least more talented).

Just like Borat!
But as long as they are making money, why would they care? It's the viewers
who are stupid, not them.

Nothing Aussie about them, they are snide pathetic arsewipes. If they
were traditional Aussies they'd be able to take as good as they give,
instead of turning into nasty bitter little insects and running off with
their tails between their legs when it comes back at them.

And traditional gallows humour is funny, their stuff is not. It saddens
me to see Oz turning into a place where large parts of the population
now look up to pretentious scumbags, when I was a kid we would've spat
on prats like this.
