Someone has just returned from Bali and brought back Vista Ultimate
lite edition.

All I can find on it after a few pages of Google is torrent downloads.

I don't have any intention of using it but what is it??

Cost 20,000 IDR ($2) was it a bargain?

It's probably custom Vista instal media that someone has prepared using
vlite.
Just like the pirate copies available via torrent sites.
http://www.vlite.net/about.html

vlite
"vLite is a tool for customizing the Windows Vista installation before
actually installing it.

Main features are:
a.. hotfix, language pack and driver integration
b.. component removal
c.. unattended setup
d.. tweaks
e.. split/merge Vista installation CDs
f.. create ISO and burn bootable CD/DVD

Windows Vista from Microsoft takes a lot of resources, we all know that.
vLite provides you with an easy removal of the unwanted components in order
to make Vista run faster and to your liking.

A Pirate Version

All the useless M$ bloatware has been removed in order to fit onto one
CD. It actually runs faster than the M$ version.

That wasn't hard to guess at $2 for the cd
