View the source of the web page (View -> Source in IE) then find the
reference to the file (usually an SWF file). If the source is relative (has
no http://blah in front of it), append the filename and path to the address
of the page you are looking at (remembering ../ means the directory above if
it is in the relative path). If the address is absolute (http://blah) then
just copy the address of the file. Then use a download manager like Getright
and paste the URL of the SWF file and download away. When you receive the
file, you can watch it in IE. There are many tricks to get around this
method, but it works for basic pages, and even the trickier ones can be
tracked down.

What's the URL of a page you are trying to get a Flash file from? Post it
here and then I can find the URL of the SWF file as a demo, then you can do
it for any other pages you want.

That's a tricky one. This is the Flash file that plays:

http://media.dsc.discovery.com/fansites/amchopper/video_bestof/media/ac_best_of.swf

Each of the clips is actually loaded by this Flash file, not by the web
page, therefore the URLs of the Flash clips are almost impossible to find.
Beyond my realm of expertise I'm afraid - the Flash file would have to be
deconstructed using Macromedia Studio MX (which I don't have handy) and the
links to the clips pulled out of it (which I don't know how to do).

The URL trick only works on sites that use HTML to load clips. Sorry.

A Google search reveals many programs for downloading Flash files, but I
don't know if any will be helpful. Check some of them out:

If you instal this free utility it will extract the swf's from your
computers cache.
The utility can view and save them.
Flash Movie Extract Pilot.

Why bother? Dont close the playing clip, do a search of your HD for *.swf
and then look at the date and time of any that come up. The one closest to
the time you played the clip is more than likely it. Copy it to desktop and
there you go!

Right click on the link and save it to your desktop and open it with notepad
to see the address of the swf file, failing that, open the page with an html
editor and look for the link information.

I dcut and paste the link into flashget to download, but any download client
should work fine.

Clockmeister.

To play it, right click on the saved file or icon and choose open with
Internet explorer (that's if you use IE)
