After installing Vista I was very disappointed to find that many of the
features which I used frequently in XP were missing from Vista, and it
appeared that there were no alternatives to these features. I dislike the
very large screen fonts which limit the information displayed on the screen,
and take us back about 20 years to the days of MSDOS. I also like to show
all my programs as icons on the desktop but Vista's the enormous icons make
this virtually impossible.
There are many other features which I liked in XP which are missing in
Vista, and I have decided that that I would be better off by reverting to
XP, but SURPRISE, SURPRISE, Vista's Help and Support states that once
installed, it cannot be removed. Because it was a clean install, there is no
previous operating system available on the new computer, which I can revert
to
If I try to install XP over the top of VISTA, when the startup screen
appears, it has the "Install Windows XP" option blanked out as unavailable.
I have contacted Microsoft for assistance but they have informed me that
the version of Vista which I have cannot be removed.
Can anybody suggest a workable solution which will allow me to uninstall
Vista so that I can revert to XP?

You've got that wrong. What exactly do you claim is missing ?
> I dislike the very large screen fonts which limit the information displayed on the screen,
You can use whatever fonts you prefer.

The taskbar is much more useful, essentially because
you dont have to clear the desktop to see the icons.

Nope, you can have any size you want too.
> There are many other features which I liked in XP which are missing in Vista,
There arent any.

It doesnt say that. Of course if can be removed by formatting the hard drive.

Correct.

Just boot the XP CD, tell it to format the drive, then install XP.

You must have asked the wrong question. Of course
it can be removed by formatting the hard drive.

Format the hard drive any way you like and do a clean install of XP.
>If I try to install XP over the top of VISTA,
You don't install it "over the top of" - i.e. I assume you mean
starting the XP disk from within Vista.
Either
- clean install (boot from XP disk, re-format, install\
or
- d/load a boot facility, like GParted, wipe Vista from the HDD, then
boot from XP disk
