Hi all,

The wireless module on my HP Pavilion dv6 was working when I had vista.
I then upgraded it to Windows7 but now all I see is Bluetooth when I open
my HP Wireless Assistant. Any idea?

Thanks in advance

Did you at any one time use the physical switch to switch on the
wireless?

If so, did you do a 'hard' (Shut Down, i.e. with power off,
power on) reboot? If not, do it and see if that helps.

I don't have Windows7 (but Vista), but have had that problem that the
switch did not switch on the wireless (but *did* switch the LED (from
orange to blue)). A Shut Down 'fixed' that. Don't ask me why. If it says
"Windows" anywhere on the 'box' you should stop asking 'why'-questions! :-)

HTH.

3 Possibirities

A. Wireless Driver not Loaded/Installed
B. Wireless Driver not Compatible with W7, and need a HP version
C. Wireless is Disabled, need to Enable via the Keyboard or Device Manager

I'll take B.Wireless Driver not Compatible with W7, and need a HP
version for $1000 thanks Eddy

Thanks Frank.

In my model there is a orange light on the right of the volume light.
I presumed that's what you mean by the switch.

You mean shutdown from windows startup menu?

I tried now but I am sure I have done the shutdown bit.

In fact at boot time, it did come with a message about Wireless module
missing or not install properly.

Perhaps you could determine the brand of Wireless LAN Adapter and install
the driver manually.
According to Google it's either Intel or Broadcom and the drivers are
available from HP.

If it's Broadcom try here for a description.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45522.html
and here for the package.
