the "shared" area of the Finder sidebar where the various 'other'

Faulty Intel Imac

I have an Intel Imac with core 2 1.83 Ghz, 160 GB HD,
and 512 MB RAM.
Sometimes it won't switch on and when it does it could
turn off at any time.
When it is running it works perfectly, no glitches.
It appears to be temperature related in that it will only
come on if the room is cold.
Also iStat Pro shows the GPU temperature rising rapidly.... more »

What's the difference between a POP and an IMAP account? My windows emails progs want to configure my accounts as POP, but my iPad by default wants to configure the same accounts as IMAP. ?? Is it ok to have the same accounts configured both ways? does it not matter? thanks,

Amy experience here upgrading 10.6 - 10.7 with an extant Windows install on Bootcamp?
Reached the point where the investment in the Windows side running 7 is greater than OSX - but the kids want a working mac....
