About an hour ago I sat in the wagon and tried starting it
With no warning the fuel pump sucked in some of the rubber tank seal (
which was heavily perished) and seized so a couple of minutes later I
was trying to release the fuel lines and came to the conclusion the
connections SUCK . A 14 MM split ring and a hammer sorted it but who the
f*() designed those things ?

Incidentally the local parts place had a pump for $90 instead of the
Ford $128.00 and the rubber seal is worth maybe worth $3.00 but Ford
wanted $29 and I paid $21.00

not happy Jan .
Still now I will spend a couple of hours getting the money back

That's because the right tool was at the shop and not on the end of a 14mm
split ring and hammer...

Just heard this morning that my father it making a tool to remove an airbag
steering wheel. Ford wanted big bucks for the job and they seem to be the
only ones with the tool. Hope he doesn't kill himself with exploding
airbags, I've seen video and bang seems large.

Wonder why the workshops and wrecker didn't have the correct tool.

Why does he need to remove the steering wheel?

disconnecting the battery stops the trigger ?
so removal should be safe
I expect it's the same reason they (Ford) don't stock the fuel line tool

What model Ford are we talking about here?

Most Fords with a steering wheel airbag have the bag held in place with two
small Torx screws, and removing them takes all of 3 minutes.

Some people consider anything other then a 10mm spanner (or 3/8 spanner
belted on with a decent size hammer) as requiring a special tool ;-)

Some might say that it takes a special kind of tool to belt a 3/8 spanner
on with a decent sized hammer :)

In those cases the special tool is the one gripping the spanner.
