It's this type of rip-off that should bring the relevant watch-dog to the
matter. In the past it was called something like "The prices justification
tribunal". Over the years there has been more than one investigation into
spare-parts pricing,..this was in the '70s. Nothing came of it.
When you see dealerships that are built like the Taj Mahal with abundant
staff in their offices, it's not hard to see why they charge so much. Do
they still have the labour rates and time for most jobs, book? It'be
interesting to know.
Jason
Which "company" would this be Woger? A real one, or just some fantasy
bullshit one owned by one of your make believe characters?

Thousands of them...
2 days my arse, with a bit of practice I've seen these done in less then 4
hours.
I'd be more pissed off by the fact that it leaked in the first place.
It would be a big job most likely involving removing the radiator and
condenser just to get at the front of the engine so it doesn't sound all
that expensive considering the amount of work involved.
Its obviously a known fault so I would be asked Holden to assist with
the cost, telling the sales people you won't buy another Holden if they
don't help out usually has the desired effect especially if its a big
fleet owner.
Daryl
More then reasonable at dealership labour rates plus the sealant which isn't
cheap. (assuming they do it properly and remove the timing cover and reseal
the lot and not just pull the bolts, cover them in three bond and screw them
back in ;-)
You can do it properly in that 2-4 hours if you have had the practice, so
that is probably about right.
Fords and Holdens have leaked oil since day dot, don't pretend you wouldn't
expect it ;-)

There is bugger all work involved that is in any way time consuming, except
perhaps cleaning the parts up.

At 66,000km and '06 he might have a claim. Holden may meet you half way, but
with the way they are clamping down on all warranty claims they are just as
likely to tell you to get stuffed these days, calling your bluff ;-)

You would think with customers not exactly coming through the dealers
door in big numbers these days that they would bend over backwards to
keep existing customers happy especially if they are fleet owners.
Daryl
Yes im a fucken baby and want the goverment to protect me from everyone and
do all the work for me. I'm so fucken stupid I cant even figure out what
services on my vehicle are likly to cost but anything over $100 and i want
the goverment to investermigate for me, im just the little guy!

Thanks for that guys.
Yeah,..OK, what strategy do you employ when faced with a $1400 for a
*gasket* replacement? You just grin and bear it ? :-)

So the fix will be quicker then? ;-)

Don't take any notice of the groups biggest fucking knowall Simon. You must
have taken him to task at some stage did you? Usually, once one disagrees
with his rants you are labelled as me or better still, you will cop a
barrage of childish abuse.
As for your question, we had the same thing done to our '05 model Commodore
at 91,000klms as well as the 4 wheels brake machining. Cost of the bill was
over $1700 for all including a service so I guess it's about right which
doesn't say too much for Commodores. And Mitsubishi cops the abuse in
here....go figure.

Are you referring to your local medical clinic, like the one Dr
Clarkson presumably operates, or the struggling Holden dealer?
Fair trading would sort out the dealer, but I doubt if there's any
equivalent watchdog to oversee the clinic's rorts and rip-offs.
Note the reference to "one of our company vehicles". The clinic
obviously runs a fleet of cars, to keep the wives in transport,
etc... and what's the bet they also get 'em on the the cheap?
A personal visit to the dealer principal might even score him a
freebie on this occasion... especially if the dealer's getting on a
bit and likely to be feeling crook at some stage.
If he's too busy making a dollar to drop in on the dealer, Dr Clarkson
could always bring in the AMA, with it being the powerful organisation
it is (doubt if the CFMEU could get near 'em when it comes it muscle)!
There's definitely no shortage of options. ;-)

Yeah, Norm Gallager would have chucked a green ban on the dealer-joint next
time they were doing extensions...

Talking to yourself now?
You and that other multi-personality fuckwit should get a room :)
