I will be driving across from Perth to Melb and I was wondering if anyone
had any HEALTHY
ways of modifying diet or whatever so that you avoid getting tired.
Is fruit the go? or what?
Keep water levels up?

Thanks

Have a decent half hour break every 3 hours driving time. Don't load up on
coffee to much and eat regularly (maybe every 3 hours) and don't load up on
carbos like pasta 'cos it will make you sleepy.

Cheers

hehheh -
The Ponsenby Pocket Travel guide says...., ah! here it is, right
there on page 7.
"Do try to avoid foods containing oils that pass through your
digestive system basically unchanged.
That way you'll be doing less scooting across the grass outside
the shithouse that's paperless":-)

Discovery channel tells us that eating an apple first thing in the morning
will do a better job of waking you than a cup of coffee.

.. won't do much for the caffeine addiction though!! :)

Yeah - what he said. When I'm on a long drive, a short snooze in every break
feels almost like a long sleep and really restores my concentration.

If you _really_ need to stay alert, heavier duty stimulants are called
for:

The ol' trucker's cocktail of Sudafed and Coke is hard to beat.

Healthy? Well, most of the truckers die by impact with a solid object,
not from chemical effects. This proves conclusively that a diet of
Sudafed and Coke, and hamburgers with the lot, is not bad for you.

Tune your radio into an AM talkback station - or the ABC.

Always gets my blood boiling.

Except if it's Sunday morning and Macca's on the ABC.

If it's Sunday morning, the radio is the last thing on my mind. ;-)
